74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Need to get some pics done of this.

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Paint!!!

Okay, sheesh. Anybody got any advice for getting the cam chain back on the sprocket and then assembled to the shaft? Can't quite see how this is going to work.

Got it. Had the chain on the wrong side of the sprocket

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Paint!!!

Okay, Motor built and mounted and I am stoked!! ;D Temp mounted the exhaust and i really like it. still toying with the idea of wrapping the pipes to keep the bike blacked out and letting the muffler pop a bit but I haven't decided yet.

One thing, the flanges I had made to allow me to mount the mikuni carbs to the stock 360 intake seem like maybe they are a bit on the long side. I need to check with PJ on whether that was intentional for a performance reason or not. If I shorten them so they mount flush it will help with the air filter/battery box scenario. I forgot to paint the oil filler cap and I kind of like it that way. ??

All in all I'm real happy! 8)

A few large things and a list of little ones to do still, need to wrap this up this month!!

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Well done diesel, I like the black motor! Liking this one a lot.

Cheers,

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Looking fantastic! I agree with Von, leave that oil cap as is, it looks great.
Keep up the good work.

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

I feel like its missing something. Are you going to put badges on it? If not maybe a silver pin stripe between the gold and black would set it off a bit more.

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Tank graphics are not done yet. and the fenders are not installed both of which will make a big difference. I'm doing a flat black pinstripe where the two colors meet, very subtle. there will be some sort of graphic on the top of the tank as well haven't decided exactly what yet though. I was thinking of maybe some old school pin striping in matte and gloss black but I may opt for something more graphic. I'm also making a tool bag out of the seat leather for under the headlight.

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Looks great! I don't recall seeing the exhaust construction part of the build here, so forgive me if it is contained somewhere in your 13 pages, but:

looks like 4 90 degree bends, a 2 into 1 and some straight pipe, is this correct? Where did you source your pipe?

Thanks!

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Thanks, yeah its just mandrel bends and straight pipe plus that 2-1 collector all from Columbia River online. the megaphone is something I'm trying out and if I like it I will have it for sale through my website for about $100 all the pipe and the megaphone are 304 stainless.

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Again, your bike is looking great! So just the megaphone will be $100 or the whole exhaust set up you created?

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

right there too man, sans a decent tank, im tired of these old cb360 tanks going bad even after treating... (*golf club to the tank ;) )

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

the Megaphone is $100 and if I sell them at that there is very little profit in them. The materials for the headers and collector in stainless were well over $100 alone. This set up could be done in mild steel for less though. I will retail the exhaust without the megaphone for around $325 (less in steel)

DC - I've got a half a dozen rotted 350/360 tanks. really light gauge steel.

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

OK, thats what I thought. Just wanted to double check. I would have had a heart if you were selling the whole setup for that cheap. ;D

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Okay, haven't updated this for a while. I got a little sidetracked getting my R5 on the road and with the CL350 I picked up. But I've started wiring the bike up. I have few picks of my electrics tray here that will be hidden under the battery and of the LED turn signals installed.

One question for anyone good with wiring. I bought universal coils from either DCC or MikesXs and they don't seem to direct wire. I don't have pictures but I'll try to be as clear as possible. the stock coils each have a black/white wire and one has a blue wire with dual female connectors the other has yellow. these are for the points and condenser wires to plug into. the replacement coils each have a brown wire and an orange wire. The brown wire has a male connector the orange a single female. In order to use these I should be able to plug the brown wires in to the Black/white dual connector in the harness and then add dual connectors to the orange wires for the blue and yellow wires to connect to. Is this correct?

Thanks for any help.

That is correct I just put some coils from mikesxs on my CB360 and they are awesome

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Those signal look great there Diesel - are they lit up in the pic or is that just the way the light is in the shot?

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

I love this build. Bike looks great. I have had my 360 for a couple months and this is the direction I would like to take. I want that exhaust. I have done a few things but I need to tear down and have frame painted. I like my wheel setup. I laced a 21 inch to the front. I wanted to run the Michelin Trials tires on it. Seat came from ebay. The one from Veitnam. This thread has given me some big ideals. Thanks

Re: 74 and 75 CB360 tracker - Engine built and mounted!!

Thanks guys, I have been straight out at the shop, haven't been around here much. (also riding the piss out of the R5!!) I did get the paint squared away and will update with pics once the wet sanding and buff is done. Working on the wiring now. (Rich, no power to the signals yet.) Real bitch figuring out where to stow all this stuff. I'm almost at the point where I'm ready to tear the harness apart and strip out all the "Extra" stuff. We'll see.

Golfmuch, Golf much? haven't been out yet this season but love to smack whitey around any chance I get! Bike looks good!
