Another kick at a rebuild

Realized I don't have any side shots with the stacks. The triple trees still need to have the wiring harness all cleaned up and stashed away. I have a studio booked next week for an indoor bike only shoot. I'm saving up my clams now for a partial fairing for the bike. I haven't heard back from the guys at "Glass from the Past" on the cost to ship the glass piece up. I originally thought of placing a full fairing on the bike but then why bother going through all the trouble of polishing all the fiddly bits if I'm going to cover them up with fairing. The fairing I'm looking at is a replica of the old Duc 1000s. The price for the fairing is 300 bucks (obviously not including shipping) and it includes the wind screen and (assuming) the mounting brackets. I'll also post some pics of the wiring in a few days in case anyone is wondering where everything is stashed.

I also found this a while back. Its a simple wiring page for the honda rectifier (like the ones used on 400/450 and others I'm sure.) Scroll down to the bottom as the first part is just for the XS650

Btw. Jrk5892... I was looking at a thread but realized I didnt see the date. When did you melt your fingers? Old post? I couldn't find the page again. Looked like it might have hurt a touch.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! glad to hear that your all ok, I would be lost with out my Better half, so i get it!! LOVE your ride too!!!!

burned them up two weeks ago... the are getting better to the point where i have been able to get into the shop and start to organize it... but no greace and grime yet... about another 2 weeks before i can do that... not cool... bike looks great brother! man i love how it looks!

I just read the whole thread and wow. The bike has come a long way, and it is very pleasing to the eye. I just got a 78 cb400t for a really good price and this thread has given me some hope for the bike. I have been trying to figure out what jets to use for the cone filters and i finally found it. I am looking to give my bike the minimalist look that you have. i sure hope it works.

OK Guys,

Same old story. I haven't forgot about the few that I haven't sent out the stacks to, so with out any reasons Ill just leave it at that. They are coming. On my word.

I'm getting a shwack load of people sending me mails on the stacks (Been ignoring the non-DTT member mails ;) ), as a result, I will be submitting a link to a vid I will post for those who want to see how it's done. Start to finish. Figure it might be easier (and quicker) if I show you guys (and girls) how. Bare in mind, I still don't mind sending them out to those who want them. Just takes some time and availability on copper.

As for the details on the bike, there is a reason I haven't posted any. I'm having some issues with a few minor details that I'm not too happy about. When I built the seat, I failed to take into account the upholstery and as a result the seat doesn't sit quite right on the frame. The tank albeit does fit on the frame, but the channel is so snug that it sits just slightly off to one side so from the rear looking straight on, you can see it. When I tore the frame down, I forgot to remove two tabs that used to hold on the side fairing pieces. I can "shop" them out in the photo, but then, that's not really the point. I see quite a few people in here who have spent considerable time on the details, and I would like to do the same. So my plan is this.

The riding season out here is soon coming to a close, and I would like to do one, maybe two more photo shoots with the bike and then I'll be tearing it apart completely again, this time with great time spent watching the details. I've got my eye on a Duc fairing from glass from the past and if all goes well I should have it rebuilt by next spring. Then I'll post the details. Thanks for all the Props guys (N girls), I think we all have a pretty cool thing going on here.

Greasy Peace.

Well. It's been a really long time. It puts a smile on my face to see some familiar faces still here. Family is doing great, but it eats up a shit load of time. The bike and I are back. This August, my Dad and I are going to go down to the Bonneville salt flats for speed week and the old double shot is coming with. If any of my extended family should find themselves out that way it would be great to see any of you.

Cheers n Beers

HEY!!!!! I'm so glad to hear life's going good for you mate! You've been gone a while...this joint really blew up. Just like before....you find yourself 'round Portland Oregon gimme a holler..

Hey Bro!!!
Glad all is well!
I have received your velocity stacks years ago shipped to Singapore. I want to pay you for your troubles.. Pls PM me your paypal email ya?
Thanks again!!

For those of you not in the know, Canuck Plumber is one of the original guys on this forum group to set the tone. As fastleee84 mentions, Canuck made some really nifty copper velocity stacks for his build (You should go back thru the thread and read about his bike). Lots of people asked about them so he made a pile and basically gave them away. Yeah most of us sent him some small pittance but really it wasn't enough.
Thanks again for helping this place become what it has.

Wow. Thanks for the props Pal. It's good to be back in here. Holy crap has it changed. Looks good. Amazing, almost 10G members. Fantastic.

Fastlee, I'm not too worried about it. I sent those out so long ago, I've forgotten what I sent you. Glad to see your still hanging around.

Swagger, once again, thanks, the check is in the mail. ;D .

Greasy Peace.

Welcome back, This was the one of the first builds I really followed and still one of my favroites. Glad your back to the site/

Cheers,

Maritime

Thanks Maritime! Yeah, I'm glad to be back. It's about time I got my hands dirty with something that wasn't related to plumbing. I decided to get the tank and seat fairing repainted. I swapped some plumbing work for the paint job from a body shop. I dropped the bike last year and damaged both. I think I got a fair deal. I'm also going to try and get back to making those velocity stacks again. They were becoming popular until I ditched. As I mentioned earlier, I'm taking the bike down to Bonneville in August for the speed trials. No, not to be IN the speed trials, just to watch. Well... I might pretend... I hope to find a few of you guys/gals down that way if any of you get the chance.

Cheers n Beers

Look For Hoofhearted, He has the red 500cc sidecar racer. He's turboing it for this year at Bonneville I think. He posted the turbo in the latest purchase thread.
