seat in fiberglass, needs alot of smoothing with bondo/resin
and yes there is my new trick exhaust in the works (not yet done)

and the Z
IMG_0223.jpg

twin intakes, twin turbos
painted all the lower nismo gray parts to match and the shop gear logo

Mate that pipework looks the dogs bollocks. I really like the way you have built them up. It would be a shame to fully wrap all those welds. Nice one.

I really like the way you've built those pipes up, they look the dogs bollocks. It would be a shame to hide that work by wrapping the pipes.

(just in case you're unfamiliar with Brit phrases, Bollocks=not good, Dogs bollocks=good.)

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

So if i add "Dogs" infront of motherfucker IE: "you Dogsmotherfucker" its all good? lol
Well these bollocks perchs keep cracking on me, this time i bought them and simply tried to put them on and they cracked.
heres the first one that i modified
IMG_0294.jpg

and heres the new unfucked with one
IMG_0299.jpg

so i used another brake perch and flipped it
IMG_0319.jpg

anyways enough bitching, lets get productive.......
Battery box and new battery, rearsets mounted
IMG_0315.jpg

and my new headlight switch and kill switch, soon to have water proof covers installed
IMG_0317.jpg

and my wheel are getting the new tires put on WOOHOOO finally

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

Looking really slick. Looks like you're getting really close.

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

The tube in those pics above was bent with a pipe bender--not a tube bender. you can tell by the decrease radius on the inner and outer walls. In this application, it should be fine.

On my RD400, I had my rear tube bent with a proper tube bender and mine is perfectly smooth all round. It is also one piece. I think it cost me $40 shipped. I bet I could get another bent for the same price. Oh, mine is 1" .065 wall DOM.

That would be great but i dont know how i would make it work since the exhaust runs right through there, maybe around the battery box....hmmmmmm

I got the idea from a battery (Portalac PX12072 12v 7.2Ah) Ryan Dunn (jackass) uses on his honda 750 that im pretty sure BCR built, A buddy removed it and tried it on a xs560 and it starts that. www.advancedbattery.com has them in a 12v 8.5Ah so i bought one thinking its probly better, anyways they were out of stock so they contacted me and said the PowerSonic PSH-1280F2-FR is the same and i told them to send it.

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

Chris - i figured out how i can mount and weld the hoop into place, can you get me 2 90* bends?
how much shipped to 19380?
Thanks

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

OK im knee deep in my wiring and cant find in my diagrams where the white /yellow wire goes and the thicker black wire near the middle/rear(thought i had it connected to the ground on the battery), i got rid of everything on the handle bars and put a kill switch and a headlight switch under the seat, so.....hmmmmm

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

I'll take a look at mine when I get home.

Working 12 hr days sucks.

correct. My bad on word choice... In any case most muffler shops have pipe benders, not tube benders. You can also bend tube (albeit not cleanly - as pictured) in a pipe die with functional results for this particular application... Just try and use tubing and not pipe for your frame. :) :) :)

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

I looked at the middle/back of the bike and didn't see any white/yellow wire. I think I remember seeing one in the headlight bucket, but I didn't get a chance to take it off. I was planning on bringing my shop manual in to work today to check out the wiring diagrams, but I forgot. Sorry. I also did not see a thick black wire. Unless you mean like pencil thick, then that is the neg battery terminal cable. All of the grounding wires on my bike are green I believe. Dark green, but green.

I won't be able to take a look at my bike again until Monday night when I get back in town. If you haven't figured it out by then, I'll keep looking.

Actually, now that I think about it, I remember a second wire on my neg battery terminal. It may be black. Not sure.

Good luck!

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

the white with yellow should come from the headlight switch to ------? and the thick black wire under the seat ----?

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

heres where im at now
wiring :-\
IMG_0332.jpg

i used the factory harness and modified it, but i still dont know where the white wire with the yellow trace goes to from the headlight switch, im 90% sure that the thick black wire under the seat goes to the positive on the battery.
IMG_0331.jpg

im also stuck on how to remove the upper single throttle cable from the lower two in that tube.
i cant find this stuff in the manual.

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

I HATE WIRING!!!! IM LOST
can someone step in and sort this out?

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

In trying to help myself i made a less involved diagram by erasing shit (in MS paint) i dont have in my harness anymore.......

i will see if it helps me tomorrow

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

Derek get yourself a cheapo test light and trace around. There should be two thick (8 or 10 guage/pencil thick) wires coming from under the seat, one is the ground attaches to your frame. The other goes from your starter to your starter selenoid, then from the selonoid to the pos battery. I think all the other 16 guage black wire is power everything and goes to your positive, and I believe the yelow and white goes to the white only on the alternator. Keep in mind this is all going off my 68 cb350 manual.

"I think all the other 16 guage black wire is power everything and goes to your positive" WRONG Sorry look below
