this throttls cable synch method is badly flawed and will only be accurate if the slides are sitting on the idle speed screws with a carefully adjusted, perfectly even opening of the throttle gap, but still just watching for them to move at the same time is funky and dumb the popsicle stick method AS I HAVE DESCRIBED A HUNDRED TIMES !!!!!!!! is a much more accurate ,way fucking easier, proven method ;D use pop sticks of the same size and straight

No no I didn't do the cable sync part. I only did the screw sync part. Sorry I meant to only copy that bottom part: I did the Popsicle stick method. Lol

Just out of curiosity, how would performance be impacted by using a common airbox for both carbs, like a large k&n with two inlet ports, and then a length of radiator tube going to each carb? Stock uses two airboxes for a reason I guess, but larger CC bikes use a common filter. Would I get worse performance compared to using two individual pods?

we have considered doing the same to make a ram air induction system.

done corecctly it could boost power, but would take a dyno and a lot of testing, just do it i say
i know on a big 90 degree vtwin like my TL1000r removing the airbox is an instant 7-10hp LOSS, same with the ducatis harmonics baby,harmonics...
hell even removing the intake ducts on a tl loses 5+ hp

but you need 100+ mph before ram even does anything, but the constant cool air is a big plus and proly worth it ;)

I've been thinking along the same lines but with a t150 filter
With the middle hole blocked

I also thought about doing that. In the end you know what I went with, but if the filter was large enough that'd work fine.

Indeed. I think I'm going to end up mimicking your setup (for the most part) using k&ns and silicone tubing with a 5-6" straight intake. I have looked at tons of options and think I landed on these with a 1.5" intake, 6" of 1.5" silicone tube and hopes that I can cinch 1.5" down to squeeze around my 33mm carb throat. Should work out.

Future state I would like to try that collector air filter. That T150 idea is sweet

If I actually do it I'll let you know if it works

I would highly suggest a larger filter. Mine I think is 3x3x2.5 and I should have gone larger

Haven't ordered yet :)

When you say you should have gone larger, what symptoms are you seeing that cause you to say that, other than being closer to the stock size in surface area?

I haven't had any problems at all, if anything my setup is working extremely well. That being said I had plenty of room to do a larger filter, which would have both given more surface area for air to come in and have a larger volume of ambient air post filter/pre carb. for all I know it would have been even better than what I have.

Yea?

1.75" intake. Not sure I want to get much bigger on the intake because I have a 1.25" carb throat and I am not sure I want to unintentially get a large volumetric flowrate increase necking down to a 1.25 opening. It might not be an issue.

THAT is the one I should have used!

Ok, I've ordered the filters, silicone tubing, joiners...etc. time to make this right.

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

For you small CB lovers out there, question - are all model year CB175 swingarms the same? I'm looking at getting a spare Frame to fix some mistakes I've made (actually cheaper this way) and I noticed on the 1970 model, it looks like there is a removable bushing on the actual frame where the swingarm mounts. The. Swingarm looks identical though.

Also, the seat mounts are completely different. The 1970 had a front latch and a rear pivot. Really strange. Oh and a removable cross brace for the rear mount. So will my super sport tank fit that? Pictures look like it should work...

My 71 is exactly the same as the 70 that you just put up. when I did my seat I kept that front latch, and modified the rear to lower it. As for your tank I am not sure. I can take photos and measurements if that helps you. Also kudos on the filters and silicone tubing. What did you wind up with?
