Ive found castings can be quite affordable,in this case $45 each, but remember theres a lot of finishing work involved later on
do they work out shrinkage and all that?

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

1-2% isn't really much to worry about when you're flanging parts. It get dicey when you're lapping them though. In this case I can't see an issue with a little.

The next task is to get Lois' exhaust system sorted
Had my patterns scanned & mandrel bent in 38mm od stainless steel, now its time to put it all together
Time to refer to the electric glue, although my TIG skills arent fully developed yet,we'll see what happens......
Heres a pic of the kitset:

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Lois NEEDS a rev counter & mounting ,so had a hunt round & came up with a nice alloy car steering wheel hub & a black/chrome 8000 rpm electronic tacho, so,here we go once again with the assorted power tools & liberal application of elbowgrease......

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Each knobby bit is threaded underneath, so its mounted on top of the fairings dash area
I couldnt mount it IN the fairing cause the headlite bucket is way too close

One of my grandsons had a toy plastic dress up knights helmet & shield & on the shield was a gold Griffin badge which I borrowed ,molded & made several more in fibreglass for this project.
There are more of these badges on the motor covers & seat rear
This is also why this bike is called 'Lois' [from TV's cartoon series 'Family Guy']

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Heres a couple of quick pix of the state of play, still got a ways to go, but can now see the light at the end of the tunnel
Next major mission will be the engine rebuild
