Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Thanx for the high praise guys :)
Lois' primary cover is coming together nicely, spent yesterday laying it up in the previously mentioned mold, heres a couple of pix,one of it freshly released, untrimmed from the mold & one of its insides after id used epoxy putty to form the bolt hole surrounds & then drilled all the holes
Next up is a nice shiny coat of black......

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

OH YEAH BABY!!! I love it when a plan comes together!
Its taken a bit of doing but heres Lois' primary cover finally painted a nice shiny "Finnigans Smoothrite Black " & installed with a bunch of nice contrasting stainless steel capscrews
Its even got one of the few Honda parts on this bike, a tappet adjuster cap, for the chain inspection hole :)

Holy hell... Just keeps getting better. In all honesty, this is mind blowing man. I really am amazed at what youre doing here. If youre ever anywhere near Pittsburgh, please let me know. I have to buy you a beer.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

I wonder what the power making potential of that engine really is? What a cool idea.
It's 700ccs correct?

Close ,its 726cc & stock with governer makes 27hp @ 3500rpm
Ive removed the governer, added a pair of 32mm carbs,am about to port & polish the heads & get the cam reground & will have added a rather more free flowing tuned length exhaust
Im picking a reliable 40 to 50 hp @ 5000 to 6500rpms maybe?
Remember back in the day thats about all most cafe racers had BUT this thing should have heaps of torque with it.....BTW OCC tuned essentially the same motor & got a claimed 90hp!!! & some of the tracter race boys are claiming similar numbers
I guess we'll see......watch this space

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Yeah I think you'll do just fine...just about ANY motor can be hotted up!

my current goal is to........... DO THE TON!! ;D ;D ;D

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

This is just way too cool. With everything painted up, it's going to look amazing.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

my guess would be as long as you have two gears you can hit 100mph on this thing!
I like keeping the expectations on performance low while aiming at the stars too, always make it more fun to test out.
anyway looking good, maybe i missed it but do you have a moto junkyard for a backyard or something?
where do all the parts come from? i mean the ones you dont make from scratch

Ive been collecting /horsetrading various parts for a quite a few years & regularly troll "TradeMe" etc but in this case mainly bits left over from other projects

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Awesome job Dave! It's such a unique project. I can't wait to nominate you for BOTM. ;D
