YANX 600 Yamaha XJ(FJ) 600 Goes Cafe

I see you ended up here as well! Lot more pics here than on Sporthoj! Have not got around to update my project thread here thou. Maybe I should get the tumb out and do it some day.

Eleganten a.k.a Rallyfisken

Smile! Half sporthoj.com is here, nice!
Well, see you around :)
And of course you need a thread here as well

Zäta! the new rear end looks good! Has a 80's superbike-feel about it.

And the deadline now is April next year huh? ;)

Tnx!
Well, I actually wanted a look that should be modern, still no doubt a Cafe racer.... hope it will line up good at the end ...
otherwisw I might need do another one :)

Tnx!
I hope my backend also will be nice ... sometime :)
Did some work on it today, cutted of all lose ends and started to curv the metal for a smoth "walkover" to the seatend.
Pic comes later...

Pat, I like the work you are doing it is excellent. However (and I'm not trying to be a smartar$e) wouldn't it be easier to make the tail from foam first to see if you actually like the idea you have in your head before making metal parts. Keep up the good work!

It would, but he´s a "hammer-metal-un till-extream-pain-devolops" adict. Think it might be a swedish thing. :p

Hi J
Well, a wount argue about that, you are absolutely right :)
BUT ... as I never been doing anything like this before I also see it as "learning by doing", and one thing is for sure, you learn from the misstakes, wich means I've learned a lot :)
And I'm also impatient and pretty stubborn, just like Eleganten says ::)

But actually, today I asked a friend in the garage if he knew if there is any real thin metal, like tinoil x 10, that should be something to do models with!

I totally agree with "learning by doing". Keep it up, the new tail looks great so far.

Tnx man!
Well, I hope to put the tail together today. Will try to fit in 2 air-intake in the frontpiece of tail. I will cover them with net, and behind the net I will hide bolts that keep the parts together. But there will be a hell lot of work to get the finnish and a good fit in the joint.
As the tail is a "onepiece" and I will have battery and other electronic parts in it, I need to be able to open it somehow...
A challange, yahoo! :)

Spent evening in garage :D
Didn't get as far as a wanted, should just weld a small "inner frame" to support the piece that will be front of the tail and meet the seat... GAHHHH, nothing worked out as I wanted.

But ... whom of you have a piece of your bike on the wall in the livingroom ::)
AND your girlfrind think it's realy goodlooking...

Here's a piece of my tail upon a piece of naked metal ;D

Another thought crossed my mind ... NO TAIL, just a small pice of metall on a rod ... thats it??

I had a dark brown leather brooks seat on our mantel that the wife liked.

Are you really going to use that seat?
