    [SEATTLE] 1974 CB450 for sale

This board has been a fantastic resource for me while I've owned this bike - I'm super thankful for all the awesome encouragement and advice given! I'm in a space in my life where I'm really simplifying things, and as awesome as the bike is, it doesn't make the cut against my music and my...

    SQUEEEEEAAKKY brakes

Anybody have squeaky disc brakes? Mine is squeaking like a stuck pig and it kinda kills the cool factor when you roll up on a place sounding like nails on a chalkboard. I bought a can of brake squeal killer stuff, but I'm a little worried about spraying anything on the brakes...

Where can I get this taillight?

So I've been debating about just getting a lucas style taillight for my bike, or something else - then I saw somebody driving around with a CB500-4 and lo and behold the taillight was nice and small: Where can I find one of these lights? Most of the ones I've seen on eBay are just like the...

    Web Developers? (SOAP & PHP)

Hey guys - totally off topic, but does anybody know (or know someone who knows) SOAP and PHP? Specifically the nuSoap class? I've got a site that's driving me batty. Thanks all - please resume talking about fun stuff. Andrew

straight through braided steel brake cable or deal with the inline switch?

So I'm trying to get my front brake to be more grabby - right now I have to apply a LOT of force to get it to stop quickly, and I just don't feel safe. So I've got a line on a braided brake cable that I can either get in a stock configuration or straight through, in which case I'll need to get...

Anybody know where I can buy a pulley?

So, I play in a band, and we have a set of Jenco Vibes - they're awesome, but we lost one of the pulleys that creates the wowowowoh sound - Jenco (as a musical company at least) is out of business, so anybody know where I can buy something like this? Shaft is 7MM

I figured changing the fork oil would be easy... guess not?

So in the Clymer manual for my CB450 it says to change the fork oil you just drain it (I did, it was rancid) and then remove the filler bolts at the top of the fork. I unscrewed the filler bolts, but they seem to be attached to something - I tried pulling them out, but it feels like I'm pulling...

CB450 2 into 1 exhaust - what are my options? Anybody have one on their bike?

I've been looking all over for a 2 into 1 exhaust for my '74 CB450 - I found this one for the early 80's CB450's but I expect it probably won't fit mine (or would it? Anybody try it?) There's a couple custom header places way the hell down in Auburn that have said they can make a 2 into 1, but...

vibration / pulsing with new tires

Hey dudes - So, I got my new tires (Michelin spitfire) put on a while ago, and shortly after that I noticed that at about 50mph I started to get a vibration, almost a pulsing. It definitely is up-and-down feeling vs side to side. My swingarm bushings are tight as a bug in a rug. I got the...

looking for a 2-into-1 cb450 exhaust - custom header shops?

Anybody got any ideas for custom header shops in Seattle? I've found a couple down in Auburn, but it's a long ride...

    SOHC vs DOHC 750's

So, it seems that for some reason the SOCH 750's are more desirable than the DOHC's - why is that?

    1974 CB450 - Gentleman's Express/Racer (part1, cosmetic)

I was thinking of calling this the Gentleman's Express (in homage to the great CB550 article), but the paint scheme has kind of pushed it into race territory, no? Although its role is still as transport, and not racing... Future performance mods: 2-into-1 exhaust w/ wrapped headers, race...

    clear coat repair/fix

So, I don't think I gave my clear coat enough time to really harden, and as I was drilling out the bondo from the hinge for my gas cap I buzzed it with the drill head a little bit. How do I repair that scuff? I took a dremel with a cloth polishing wheel to it, but that just served to make it...

Trip to Bremberton / Baimbridge Island (w/ Pics)

Greg (Rat400F) and I took the 11am ferry to Bremberton this morning - it was absolutely gorgeous. Ate tacos at Loco Taco Baja, rode north towards kingston when Greg's bike blew a fuse, and some dude in a tan Chevy Caprice with DIRTY in big block letters on the rear bumper turned up, gave us a...

probably need to clean my carbs, right?

So under normal riding conditions my bike runs awesome, but when I start my bike it usually it takes about 5-7 kicks or so and and then I have to let it idle for a while before I give it gas, otherwise it'll die. When it does settle into an idle it seems to idle fine at about 1200rpm, which...

    Let's get organized: '74 cb450

Current state: So my priorities for this build are: 1. tasteful 2. vintage styling 3. performance 4. non-permantent (ability to return to stock). 5. gotta keep the seat for the ladies. Things that are already in the works: 1. new tank w/ knee dents 2. new paint scheme for tank/side covers...

How are these for knee dents? Too shallow?

So they're not perfectly even, but I'm going to Bondo them and get them even (and you can see where the bondo on the left side cracked when I was hammerin' away at it). I'm pretty plased with the shape (esp. the right side) but are they too shallow? What have you guys done on your tanks?

CB450 / similar Light & Kill Switch assembly

My light switch has some shorts in it - it seems to enjoy cutting out the taillight when I switch over to highbeam. Anybody got another one?

    Seattle headlight emergency!

Well, not technically an emergency, but there's this reeeally attractive girl who has been asking about my bike and I've got a date with her tonight, and my headlight is out... I called Bent Bike in Lynwood, and they said that the headlight for the CB450 was a special low-wattage headlight that...
