1970 CB175 BUILD.

Haha. My handywork on a heavier gauge tail mount. This one would be the load bearing mount under the tail of the seat.

Instead of all the bends Im just going to do a pan, then weld in some recto steel to make up for the height gain.

UGLY! I was clanging around for an hour on this. Dumb

I gotta get this thing rolling. When its on my bed like that I just get crazy. Might have a name for the build too "holy roller"

Been on a cross collecting binge these days & might incorporate one into the build. Actually the one behind the bike in photo is the first one I got. Chrome Jesus. So rockin.

i dont comment on this site much but that seat is awesome i wish i had the know how to make one. very cool indeed

Heres the seat on with the paper mockup. Will install with rubber gaskets etc. Blue bolts run up through the frame into my mount. Gonna try to bang it out today. If I fail again gonna take in my paper stencil & have it made up.

Another thing quick. I almost like the look of my lazy unfinished skim coat tank. You think if I glaze the entire thing & satin clear the glaze would sun fuck?

New jacket for a bike that is still in pieces. Bike has been stressing me out, so Im just trying to forget it for a bit & enjoy the nice weather. Picked up the jacket @ a garage sale for $22.75. Cleaned me out, but its a hell of a jacket.

sweet jacket! now finish the bike so you can ride it.

I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect jacket myself... id hate to buy something new... would just feel wrong to me for some reason. been searching around the local salvation armies and goodwill stores for the right one... :D

Yup. Used is best. But think, even used was new once. Someone down the line picket it up at a shop.

This jacket has seen great things. Guy I bought it from said its a magnet to stripper poles & beer. Got it given to him in Pennsylvania & partyed all the way back to Canada rockin the leather. Cool guy.

Bike will come together slowly. Ive been having a hard time with it. Frame needs paint but I still have to figure out some mounts before I paint it. Thanks for the props duders, wish I was out there with youz.

Some questions fair brethren of DTT. Attached are photos of my seat pan & exhaust.

My first weld job on the pan, so I needa AMEN to "it wont snap" Its not shear pressure on that part, just compressive & vibration obviously. Think it was a 100AMP? Mig.

Exhaust photo is my proposed assembly. I posted up alittle ago in this thread on why I had to cut the mini muff. Long story short the turnouts are a different (not my much) OD & ID as the OG scrambler pipes. So the mini muff fits the turnout (aka I didnt cut that part of the muff) but doesnt fit the ID of the OG pipes.

You think I should weld alittle ring to fill the void in the OG pipe so the exhaust pressure isnt pushing the fibreglass packing? Will it sound like shit? Assembling like shown in photo, I think thats the best route. Just want opinions.

Sorry for the rough translation of my thoughts. Its hard to explain shit like this.

I know nada about exhaust, but the seat pan should be fine. I would assume the slight change in diameter of the pipes wouldn't cause more interference than the packing. .02 for ya. Coming along nicely, keep it up.

What exactly is the prob with the mini-muffs? Maybe I'm just tired but I'm not fully understanding that.

Are you going to paint the carbs or just leave them cleaned up?

Its early here too BigR. I cant go ahead & try to explain it right now. Sleepy. Stayed up way past my bedtime last night.

Ill try though.

Im just wondering if I assemble them as is (photo) will there be any problems/extra noise. With the packing loose like that I figured there may be some issues with noise or maybe the exhaust pressure would bung up the loose packing.

I probably wont paint them. Painting sucks, my tank is STILL in bondo stage. Haha Im thinking of just glazing it more with parging(stucco) like texture & clear coating it.

Just put the carbs back together & found this missing(BLUE) Dont know what it does, but its gone.

& I lost my float needles. Argh, that is poor form.

Anyone have float needle? & opinions on that brass piece(BLUE)missing?

Thanks
