Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - for those who have been waiting patiently
I took the original muffler and cut off the intake side so it was about 4" long. Then cut off the last 4" or so of the end and welded them back together. Essentially removing the middle of the original muffler. Then cut the tip with an angle grinder so it would fit the shape of the newly cut muffler.
Real pita actually. But it turned out pretty decent I think.
Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - for those who have been waiting patiently
Okay, so if I have pipes that have had the muffler cut off so that they are two straight pipes I would have to weld them into some sort of collector if I wanted to do something similar?

Hey Rich, looking good brother, I like her in the red dress much better and that tank does seem to just match perfect with that seat! The care package I sent you should arrive tomorrow! Let me know when you get it!

Dude, you don't even know the half of it. I will take a pic of the shop space and bike storage area. most of what is there my shopmate is responsible for but I've accumulated a pile of stuff. I have a couple of new shorty magaphones from mikesx. I was thinking of using one of those but i think I want them for the xs.
Hey, if anyone is looking for a 200 tank like this one I may have one later today. I got a line on a 200 that is in pieces. I'll let you know.
Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - for those who have been waiting patiently
Didn't make any real progress aside from shaving some new seat foam, but have a funny story I want to share:
Got the chance to ride the Honda to work last night and on my way home I stopped to get some smokes. There were 2 guys walking out to their work truck when they stopped to check out my scoot. The younger guy says "nice bike, where'd you get it, etc, etc." When the older guy says "Man that is a sweet Buell". I thought I didn't hear him correctly and said "Excuse me?". So he said it again, and added "What year is it?". I told him a 68 and his buddy interupts with "that's a Honda.....it says so on the side of the motor."
The older guy must not have heard him and said "I didn't even know Buell was that old". I just kind of smiled and said thanks for the compliments.
I thought you would like that box....they are factory "of tWistedWheelz" authorized!!!!
So glad you dig the badges, and sorry it took me so long to get them done and out to you. I can't wait to see them mounted up. I sent the extra vinyle in case you wanted to do something else with it like on your cage, redo the badges, mask something to paint them in, or give to a fellow DTT'er in your area, I know you have one or two around you! ;D
Thanks for all you have done for me too, just glad I could return a favor!
I always have and always will use the 3M emblem tape, you can get it from Wally World and it has red film on both sides, the shit is stickier than a teenagers playboy pages. It is nice and thin. Make sure the spot you are putting those are flat, else you may have to try and shape them a bit before putting on the sticky!!!! I hope its flat though because shaping those with out damaging will be tricky!!
+1 on the 3m tape! i use that crap for everything!!!! great great product and holds a crap load of weight for its size.
diesel450 i am 235lbs, a 175 looks crazy under me and to be honest does not move for crap, i do have the KZ200 that i use to run around town and what not, everytime i pull up to a light i get laughed at... and i deserve it
I'll get Aetsh to take some better pics - I'm heading to bed. Long days night, ya know?
And Joe: one of my friends is a former Marine. He's about 5'9", 275 pounds. Looks like a shaved gorilla. Just a mass of a man. But he stopped out shortly after I got the bike street worthy and got to take it up and down the street....... I think he was in 1st gear for about 200 feet. After he got back he said "Yep, wont be doing no wheelies on that"
