Run a couple of wires, say from under the seat to where the relay plugs in. Wire it up and secure your relay in the new spot.

I taped the flashers to their units and stuffed them in the creatine can.

Got some brackets to attach the headlight to the fairing stay. I don't know what cut up my knuckles worse: the last scrap I was in or setting up this headlight and firing set-up. I would rather skin my knuckles on my bike than on some old tosser's head- you don't get arrested working on your bike (unless you're in Germany!!!).

Anywho- I will post pics of the newly cleaned-up wiring. Stay tuned...

Angle stock, a drill, a ruler, Sharpie, and a hacksaw make fine headlight brackets:

Now, to mount the Thruxton fairing!!!

I installed the Thruxton flyscreen. I have figured out a couple of things:

1) It needs to be tight against the headight.

2) It really, really needs an 8" headlight. 7" headlights leave waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much unsightly gappiness.

I could trim the remaining numberplate to fill the gaps- NOT!!!

Pics to come later...

One thought is to make a headlight cover for said fly screen from clear plastic. I am just thinking out loud here...

A pic of the fairing even held up around the light would be a huge help.

I think JRK said before about using some kind of large steel bowl around the headlight?

Didn't read that post...

And you know something? 8" headlights are NOT commonplace on e-bay, unless you are getting some super-expensive off-road "light up the woods and beyond" type of light. Maybe check google...

Maybe if I cut the bottom off and mount it tighter to the headlight, it may look better. But then again, the brackets I made will DEFINITELY show, as well as the rear of the fairing stay if I cut the bottom of the fairing off. I am not as bothered by the fairing stay shwing for now, until I can get a bracket for my gauges, that is. Mounting my gauges is kinda what's holding me back from fork-mounting. Unlike the rest of the old crap my the Duc, the fairing stay is NOT going away on the 'bay, as it will end up being re-used if I end up doing something else.

Don't bust my hump about the duct tape on the h-light bucket- the whole assembly is getting glassed as soon as I go to the aircraft supply store.

There was a thread on here by Boingk about getting an 8 or 9 inch headlight for his GS850. I found one place in the UK that made them ($$$!!) but somebody found some cheaper alternatives. Do a search, I'm sure it'll show up.

Look for XJR1200 lights or gsx1100 lights.

Thanks!!!

ON a separate note, while the last battery was definitely bad, there is a problem with the charging system. I guess this means charging the battery every day to run it (she has to be run) while I save up for the -gulp!- replacement parts. This is a Duc, we gotta remember...

looking good! what you going to do for mirrors?

Thanks!!! Bar ends.

Check out the indicators. Bear with me, the faschia isn't painted. It was the olf Buell #plate. I reuse EVERYTHING!!!!!
The black will make it pop, and it will hide more crap.

Not a great pic, nor does it convey the absolute brightness of the indicator. Front indicator are NOT mandatory where I live.

I will trim the excess wire (and get the proper crimp, as well) before this goes prime time. But (in my opinion), it does a decent job of cleaning up the fairing stay.
