And I just picked this up today. Found it on marketplace about 15 minutes from work. It's a super stock class soap box derby racer body. Should be about the right size for Lenny up until at least middle school. It's too small for an adult, but that's not the point of this rig. The paint is good enough to stay for now but it'll eventually get something that matches the bike better. It's kinda the final piece I needed to get all the geometry and the final frame size sorted.
That is rad…
Maybe a dumb question/dad moment…is the exhaust too close to the passengers head? Loudness level high? I have hearing damage and am extremely worried about my kids messing there’s up….

And not dumb at all. I am picking up another head pipe to modify. The plan is to route the cone muffler under the seat area and pointed out the other side above the chain. I too have severe hearing loss (at 32 years old) and have no desire for Lenny to go down that same road.
Dude, before my daughter told me she absolutely would not ride in a sidecar, I was looking hard for a Soapbox derby body. I can definitely dig it, my man!

Thanks man. I had this idea in the back of my head for a while. I hadnt been able to find anyone who has used one yet surprisingly as they seem to lend themselves well to a kids size hack body. Maybe its because they arent big enough for an adult as well?
Oh and Ebay UK has a lot of little person sized safety gear, helmets. gloves, jackets etc. I got Magoo's first stuff off there as kids ride there from 5 years old up as bikes are transportation, not toys.

yeah I do have a couple of lids for him already, a 3/4 for when re ride the sl70 around and a full face for the snowmobile. Ill end up building a bombers style aluminum seat I think, which will get padding over it and a 4 or 5 point harness installed.

I was in the Thrift Shop on Keesler AFB the other day and they had a ballistics riding coat in a women's small size that made me think of Lenny... Probably way too big for him anyway...

Getting some fab work done for the outside frame rail/ suspension mount for the sidecar. The swing arm plates and shock mount plates are just mockup to check my geometry and the final bits will be made out of more suitable size material.
Got it welded together enough for a test ride. I rode around the lot behind my house and while it needs additional stiffeners (which I was always planning to add) it handles as well as I would expect. Don't really know it's there. Did a rip around the block on it too and it behaved well enough there too. Never went above 35 mph though and won't until it's braced better.
Thanks fellas. Got some bracing fabbed and welded out some bracing. Going to fab up a heavier swingarm as the test ride tweaked the flimsy mockup piece.
