IMO, some graffiti is absolutely art (though a lot of it is just crap). The problem with graffiti is that it's often applied to property that doesn't belong to the artist and is done without the property owner's consent. That's when graffiti, be it artful or crap, stops being art and becomes a crime. Artists have the right to create art but they don't have the right to force their art on the world or damage other's property to create it. Painting a train car, building, or wall that you don't own and don't have permission to paint is no different that if the bike vid guy had stolen one of our bikes, tied it the ceiling and let it thrash itself to death.
