bought! now a project!

Re: should i buy this bike?

My point is that these old bikes, and in my experience especially the CB350 really really hate weak spark. Especially if the rest of the harness/electrics aren't up to snuff.

Re: should i buy this bike?

Ahhh! Okay thanks so much I think I'm going yo go ahead and download it.

I really just wanted to see if it would turn over and it did :)

But I went ahead and cleaned the Carb I'm probably goingto pull the engine and clean it since there are spider webs everywhere.

Then I'm going to paint the frame and probably rewire the electrical.

Take out parts I don't need. I wont be able to ride it for about 6 months since I live in the NW :( so I guess ill be working on her when I have free tome off school and work.

Something to learn I guess. I'm always up for projects!

Also for the battery situation, there is a stamp that says 7/30 of this year on it so it's fairly new I checked the acid level and it's absolutely full!

I charged it and it said it was 100 percent and some acid was leaking out. Eek!

Anyways those are my plans. Any points are well appreciated since I never worked on a motorcycle before. This is myfirst one! But I have worked on Honda sprees and almost all Honda's. :)

Again thanks for the help guys you guy are one of the friendlier bunch!

Re: should i buy this bike?

That's not too bad. How much would you charge for a harness If I were to pick it up? A brand new one.

Re: should i buy this bike?

Depends on the features you're after, but I'd knock $10 off the price if you want to come pick it up. Base price is normally $150 for a no-frills stock-equivalent.

Re: should i buy this bike?

Im going to go ahead and recommend that you get it to run correctly before you tear it apart for paint etc.
Its much much easier to rebuilt and troubleshoot when you are sure the engine is good.
Turning over only means the starter is good, it doesnt tell you anything about the engine or the carbs other than that its not stuck

Listen to this guy, you'll be glad you did

should i buy this bike?

Just about this one thing and nothing else

should i buy this bike?

If you need any advice on not building choppers or knocking bikes over on yourself you can ask mike and rich.

Re: should i buy this bike?

Step one: do not be under the motorcycle when it falls over. Glad I could lend a hand.

Its funny how relevant this advice is.. I've managed to put a cb750 in my lap once in a while

Re: should i buy this bike?

well i guess ill have to listen to you guys!!

so my steps are the clean the carbs is there a rebuild kit that anyone recommends? when i was cleaning the carbs the rubber o rings seemed to be frail.

for the second step should i check for spark, compression, or set the points?

i checked the spark plugs are they are basically brand new.

do you guys suggest just using a bottle for the time being to suck gas up into the bowls because of the paint in the gas tank?

also for the rectifier, how did you guys wire it together? i know which wires go to which, but what im asking is for the male connectors on the rectifier how did you guys connect the wires to them...?

Finally some clarification. I've heard guys say it is good to be under a falling bike and I've heard some say it isn't good.

Re: should i buy this bike?

Save yourself 9 kinds of headache on your tank. Run up to Bent Bike in Auburn. Tell them to get you one of the "universal" 1972 made aftermarket peanut tanks out of the rafters. They are black, look like Sportster tanks, and were designed to fit CB350/450 twin frames. Drill 2 holes and you have a brand new ready to paint tank for about $100, plus whatever the cap and 2 fuel valves go for these days. I used to work there, Kopcicle was/is a frequent sight in there... The store sucks, but if it is ancient Honda related, it is in stock, pretty much daily.

Vancouver? Poor bastard, WA taxes and Portland eco-weenie regulations... I may live in TN now, but grew up just outside Fort Lewis.
