Ah those fatefull words "then she starts going back together".

I am looking forward to seeing the frame and suspension set up put together.

Haha, right!? NEVER SAY THAT! That's when the roof collapses and crushes your ride. Or that little simple thing to get it done...gets destroyed when trying to put it in. Ugh. I wish you only the best Compound!

New steering bearings and bronze swingarm bushings are in. Some chipped paint too.

Got a package from DCC in the mail today. VM30's, since I pay taxes.

The number one thing I want to get better at is welding. Looking at it all the same finish now...some of my welds look like toothpaste.

Are those K&N pods? Make sure you're using good flowing air filters. I use UNI pods for an inexpensive ($15 a pop or so) alternative to expensive K&N's. Cheap Emgo pod filters are crap and you'll regret them.

Bike's looking great - I love Mikuni VM carbs - easy to jet/adjust on the fly. You should get the plunger choke accessory for the right side - replaces the lever with a simple up/down pull knob for easier access. It looks like it's not a right-hand carb body, which would move the idle adjuster to the outside of the carb. Perhaps not available in the VM30 size (it is on the VM34).

Enrichener plunger is a standard size on Mikuni, I've used parts from 1970's carbs on new 'not for aircraft use' ones
The thread size could be different though, pretty sure I've made 10 and 12mm ones for cable operation (been a while)

Whoops. I ordered two Kenda K761 110/80-18 tires thinking it would work as a front tire too. Just found out it's too wide for the front it rubs against the fork seal covers.

I can't seem to find a similar tread pattern dual sport tire that will work up front at 18inches. Any ideas? Anyone know the max width you can use up front on a cb360?

I really want to keep the other for the rear and get something close to match that will fit up front.

Thanks for the link. Probably a little too knobby for the amount of street riding I'll be doing. There's a chance the k761 might fit up front afterall. I think I was misjudging where it's going to sit without the wheel being centered around the rim. I'm gonna get it mounted and see.

Of course my first reaction was to panic.

The issue isn't so much the tire fitting between the forks. Its that the tire is waaaay too wide for the wheel. Causes all kinds of dangerous handling issues. No bueno.

Jumped back into the exhaust today. I think this is it. I'm gonna wrap the part of the pipes that my leg comes in contact with so the headers will be exposed and so will the muffler. I'm really happy with it shorter like this.

Also, hooked up the clutch lever and cable...works!

That looks totally different to the original (even though it's really similar)
I guess it's having pipes closer to parallel and not sticking out so far from side of bike?
I quite like it

What he said ^^^ I like it.

wow man, that exhaust looks SO good! initially i didn't like your idea of leaving the top pipe straight and having the bottom angle up to meet, but seeing it finished and shortened like that has made a believer outta me! nicely done :)

This is what complete failure looks like before you cut it up and do it again. ;D Old Setup with muffler on.
