Down under, an idiot and a 400F

My seat is sitting on bare replacement crossmembers. I hadn't planned on anything in between.
Sweet... Your not concerned about vibrations cracking the glass or anything?

Well mines made from 1.5mm steel so it less of a concern. Plus the new cross members I welded in are much wider and form a more solid base.

If I was putting a seat on the original cross members and had a fibreglass seat I may test it out first before painting to make sure it didn't crack.

I'm putting in a new hoop and crossmember/seat mounts but might just put something in just to be safe

Mine will be similar. Running 2 strips of 30x3 strip steel for the mounts then 1.6 sheet underneath to hide everything

Sounds similar to me. I think I may have used 5mm plate for the tops:

1.5mm Alu for the under tray:

Sounds very similar.. I'm thinking of running 3mm sheet from the shock mounts back just incase it bottoms out.. I've fully compressed the shocks and it should clear but not a lot of wiggle room lol

That's something I would make doubly sure of. Hitting would be less than ideal. I got around that by lifting the whole subframe around 30-40mm plus the mono shock conversion.

That's definitely safer than hitting, just be careful raising rear end up too much as it introduces another layer of issues (handling).

Fully bottomed out there's still 10-15 mm for memory.. Another say 10-25mm taller would well and truely do it

Sounds safe already then, bit of extra safety never goes astray. Sure those with more knowledge than me could comment on the extra 10mm rear end lift, but that doesn't sound like a problem to me.

So today I dropped the bike off to my bud Darren at DnA Customs to have the headers welded up in preparation for having my secondaries bent. It's a job I wasn't comfortable doing and Darren is welding up pipes all the time.

First time the bike has really left my place so it's weird not having it in the garage but hopefully means that once complete I can focus on rebuilding the motor and look to fix up the final tweaks before firing the bike up.

Will update as I get more info but currently the plan is to weld twin sets of primaries, have a slip fit in to the merge collectors under the frame, before final slip fits into the secondaries.

Why 2 sets of slip fits?

1. I love the look of Spring clips, they look awesome and add a toughness to the look of the pipes
2. It will allow for removal of the mid section of the exhausts which makes getting to the oil drain, oil pan easy without having to take the whole system off.

Watch this space for pics once done.

Well Santa was kind this year and bought me something that will hopefully galvanise the thoughts in my head and get this build back on track and hopefully finished in 2016!

Mounted in the garage and already started to fill it out. Still a bucket load of stuff not on the list, plus there are still some big ticket items to get too, but hopefully it's something I can use to help me drive things along and get items crossed off the list, no matter how small they are.

15mm will be plenty of clearance for tyre growth unless your doing enough engine mods to be running150mph+.
490cc kit should be good for around 130~135mph you need a LOT more HP plus full fairings to go faster

The forward planning to make oil change easier is a great idea.
Sorry the collars I made didn't work out, I kinda knew they didn't look as good as I wanted
I still don't have CNC but maybe they will be useful for something?
