DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW ENGINE COLORS AND PHOTOS!

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTOS!

Brother Sonreir I try to learn as much as I can and you just taught me something, thanks man! I never knew that bronze would make a good heat shield. I have to get some bronze soon for another project so maybe that is what I will use, it would look really nice and would add more color!

Brother jay_kent I appreciate you showing other people my work! I am not a full exhaust expert but different exhaust pipe diameters work well with different engine configurations, as a general rule for four stroke engines a engine that is being built for a lot of torque will run a smaller pipe, an engine built to have a lot of mid range power would run a mid sized pipe, and an engine built for high rpm's and top end power would run a larger pipe. A triple stage pipe is supposed to make good overall power throughout the rpm range.

Here is a link to a 1965 indy car exhaust, if you like looking at cool exhausts google a 1965, 1966, 1967 indy car!

Nice picture of that car exhaust. It has long megaphones which work a slightly different way. The steps mimic a megaphone and send back the right waves but most importantly the stop exhaust gas from rolling back up the pipe. Stepped pipes are most commonly used as headers.

Joe,

I just checked your your site and this build and am really impressed with the motor work you guys are doing. I'm in Columbus GA. How far of a drive would I be looking at to bring a motor to you?

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTOS!

Brother Teazer I was hoping you would see this as I know that you could explain exhaust theory easier than I can.

Brother Sonreir that Kawasaki 990 experimental bike on the link you gave us has triple stage pipes on it.

Brother HelthInsXpert I sent you a message.

I have not had much time lately to be on DTT or work on my own, but I always try to check in on this build and a few others. Great work Joe, I love the direction this is heading and I also love the exhaust! Keep it up brother!

Thank you Brother Brandon, I have missed hearing from you and seeing progress on Caroline!

It's been a minute since I have checked on this thing, Senor Joe. This creation is nothing short of amazing. The progress continues to make me scratch my head in awe.

Thank you Brother sxecafe, I really appreciate you following this build!

Looks great Joe!

I have personal experience with that heat cloth and it works wonders!

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTOS!

Brother The Red Wonder thank you for sharing your experience with us, I think that I am going to skin the bottom of the tail section with a piece of polished bronze and run the heat cloth between the bronze and the wood.

I have decided on the color for the bike finally as well! I am going to paint the frame and tank a deep red wine color with copper accents, I really think that the wine, copper, and wood will all look nice togethor, what do you all think?

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTOS!

Been waiting to hear what the final colors would be and it sounds like a perfect combination in my opinion.
Any samples yet?

Here's a great example of that wine color done VERy well in my opinion. In this case he used brass instead of copper/bronze, but both should work extremely well. I think it'll look equally great on your build as well, good thinking!

Just the color scheme he wants, and how well it works with the bare metal tones...

@ Louie...best part is, it's a KZ400 :)

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTOS!

Brother FunJimmy I have had a hard time trying to decide on a color and have changed colors several times however I am going to use the wine color, I have not picked out the exact shade yet but it will be something similar to the photos Brother valvesprung posted after your comment on page 60.

Brother valvesprung thank you for posting those photos! I was going to look around and see if I could find a bike with a wine colored frame to see what it would look like!

Brother Louie I have to agree that is one clean bike!

Brother PHeller who has that bike! I have never seen another bike with the carburetors out front until recently when a Brother showed me a photo of a Moto Guzzi but it did not run.

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTOS!

I've not seen a fourstroke motor with the cylinder reveresd before, however I used to race shifter karts and reversed the cylinder on a two stroke Honda 250. The two stroke was pretty simple to do not like the project you have undertaken here. You've done a great job in my opinion.
