I dunno. Without Swiv, Logan would never have made that video. That alone justifies his existence IMO. ::) ;D

Well done Logan, well done indeed! :)

I just need a hint of a reason to waste an hour at work making dumb shit.

There is more truth to that than a lot of you know. Infuriating.

This was the one time I went off on Swivel before I ignored him, He was arguing with one of the members I resoect and at one point they said they weren't going to be on DTT anymore if dipshits like Swivel were and it really pissed me off. I told Swivel if he was going to make my friends go away to get the fuck off the forum. It didn't work of course but it still pisses me off now. I can feel my blood boiling just thinking about it. This site is my connection to a group I need to be connected to and if he is going to ruin it...........

For someone who offers no qualifications to his proclamations he certainly has everyone fired up. Were he Phillip Irving or Ken Sprayson or Tony Foale I might sit up and pay attention. But as nothing is offered to justify his condemnations I find it hard to consider them worthy of consideration. I have no engineering training and even less in workshop equipment and maybe my work leaves a lot to be desired. I know what I want but don't or can't always follow correct engineering practices to achieve the goal. I think that is a lot like many people on here. My sig. line started off as a running joke with a friend here but I think it proves you don't need much more than an angle grinder and perserverance to achieve the results. If Gretta's rear suspension hasn't collapsed by now I don't think I'd be too worried. Especially an opinion coming from a silver back gorilla (sorry. couldn't resist).

It took nearly 6 years and 20,000 members to bring me to the point of having to actually force someone out. Having had to do so bothers me more than some might imagine, but given the circumstances and the negative impact that was being felt not only by some of my close friends, but brand new members, along with the distraction and wasted time sucked out of our collective lives, I had no choice.

It's done. Out the airlock.

Dude that's so weird.. I was just looking through some of his posts and they started disappearing... I was like.. "Uh oh.... He's getting flushed...."

In an ironic last twist deleting the nearly 1,800 posts took a while - I was afraid for the site for a few minutes.

Tim. Sorry it had to come to this. I know you try to keep things open and free around here. Any chance we can get a lock on this thread though?

Yeah he was quite the "contributor"... Sorry it came to that. Shame. With so much time on his hands, he could have had a hugely positive impact on our little world if he wasn't so hell-bent on derailing everyone.

"out of the airlock" is providing some funny visuals, a-la one of Kubricks films. I just see a hat fading silently out into deep space.

Logan, please o please if this thread goes aways, please repost the video. You had me laughing at 0:01.

Ya, it's a shame when someone forces action like that.

Sorry it had to come to that Tim. :p

I glanced it this early this morning before I left for work. I didn't have the time to reply/post then, but I suspected it would end exactly the way it did.
Tim, I'm sorry you had to do it. But I for one am glad that you did. Good riddence.

It almost feels sunnier in here already :D

I guess I was wrong. I figured that cooler heads would prevail but we just managed a lynching. No defense necessary. Just get the mob riled up and wham, bam, no thank you ma'am it's all over.

That just left a nasty taste in my mouth.

I couldnt agree more Drewski, he controlled his own destiny. Its not that he disagreed with anyone or had a difference of opinion, etc, etc, instead it was about his total disrespect and hate for the entire dtt community.
Interesting to know how many of us had him blocked?

Logan that video is fantastic!! You sir are a creative virtuoso. Love it brother!

Teazer,

I have always admired your posts, gleaned knowledge from you over the years, and listened when you spoke. You have disagreed with many throughout the years, and you had good reason to do so in most cases that weren't aesthetic only. Many have listened and will continue to do so because you are an asset to this community and i hope will continue to be as long add it is here. I appreciate you being here more than you know.

I an assuming that you were never in the receiving end of pm's from this guy when he was at his worst. Now imagine that you were brand new to bikes and you were excited by the new ideas coming to your mind and the possibilities of creativity that you were feeling from the first time. You feel that you found your place of like minded individuals (which DTT is) and you started receiving messages and information that belittled you, degraded you, and made you and your ideas out to be nothing short of retarded. That isn't the way to make an impression on a person. This place would have deteriorated into a pile of steaming shit long ago if that attitude was harbored. I for one am glad that it has not because it has flourished into the most amazing and diverse group of individuals that i have ever met.

Swivel was a member since February. Time and time again i saw people reach it to him and try to get him to change his approach. Time and time again they failed. What began with cool heads was stoked into a fire of rage and hatred and bad taste until public outcry manifested into the rants you have been witness to. They were not co conspired. They were individual complaints and testimonies from various individuals who felt the need to publicly complain about ridicule and venom that they had been receiving without warrant.

Tim is probably the most kind hearted individual I have ever met. His had has stayed cool through internet as well as (recent) real life situations that would have driven other men to anger. He does this all for free. He does it because like me and the test of us here, he wants to see this community thrive and grow the way it has for years. That isn't possible when the anti-cooperative insists on degrading the atmosphere.

Trust me, this has been discussed for a long time by a lot of people and the decision I am sure wasn't taken lightly. I hate that I was the catalyst that ended the fiasco because do many of you were treated much worse.

I for one am glad that he is gone, he really brought the overall attitude of the place down. I respect you and hope to continue learning from you in the future, and i hope this helps you realize why that bad taste is unnecessary. He is the ONLY member to have every been banned after all, and that's saying something with guys like vonyinzer, giantrobot, and all you other hooligans around here!!!

Without trying to explain or justify, it should be said the decision to do this was arrived at over the course of months of deliberation.

This discussion had little to do with it. After the better part of a year and nearly 2000 posts and countless unsolicited private messages many of which served not the greater good but were rather incendiary provocations that were not merely irritations, and no sign of change, it was time.

I can't tell you the number of errors encountered because the limit of private messages within a time frame had been reached. Most of this went on behind the scenes out of the public view.

A decision needed to be made and for better or worse I made it. I hope to never have to do it again.

Sorry to hear that Teazer. It sucks when things come to drastic ends like that, but I'm willing to bet it wasn't a rash or quick decision. I so have a very hard time believing that Tim would make suck a heavy choice based soley on emotional responses of the relatively small number of members that have been vocal in regards to their feelings towards Swivel.

I would so hope that the idea of members here virtually "lynching" someone fades. Everyone that's chimed in on his demeanor here did so because at skme point he chose to single them out and berate them. I recieved at least twenty five threatening or aggressivle rude PMs from him. Did I overreact in some of my public replies to him? Perhaps I did. But I personally don't deal well with threats. Especially after he and I actually had a few civil conversations early on.

Maybe this will fall on deaf ears, but I for one look forward to reading the input you give to all members here. Input you gige with respect, and true passion for motorcycles. Input that although many times intelligent and well said, was very rarely given with any glimmer of respect by Swivel as well.

Ill admit that he had a knowledge base that seemed to be vast (though so is Google...). Hell, I egen found the guy somewhat humorous at times. But that said, he obviously looked down on so many here. He held himself in terribly high regard and expected us to do the same without ever proving that he deserved it. And I don't just mean the lack of any project bikes.

Anyhow, I'm rambling. All I'm trying to say is that I hope this extremely rare shunning of a member who many felt deserved it doesn't leave a bad taste in your s or anyone elses mouths for too long. This is a good place and the vast majority of its members are wonderful folks. I think perhaps Swivel just pushed a little harder and longer than the bubble could withstand. Unfortunate as it might be, I think in the end we'll see that Tims decision was as good for this community as it was difficult.
