I would not go 26mm, look at some of the ZR440 snowmobiles the cats came with 30mm VM's (mine has them on there now) alot of guys upgrade them to the flat slides and you can pick them up stupic cheap. i got my last set for $14 shipped! all the bike guys search VM30 so the prices are stupid high, trick is to figure out what runs them stock and you can search that and carb... may need to do a bit of homework to figure out what sleds run them, i do not know all of them off hand but there are a ton. you are of course going to have to jet and adjust the clip but you would have to do that anyway ya know

word.

tank is finally back and on the bike. looks good just going to need to raise up the factory mounts in the front so the tank sits properly. photos attached are with the tank propped up in the front for a visual. with the tank installed you definitely see the added length in the swingarm, seat/tail length is going to be around 24" split up most likely 15" seat, 9" for the hump, and that's ending at the axle bolt. yikes.

thank fellas, need to get on track and weld in the mounts for the rear suspension linkage, find a good set of rearsets, and start brainstorming exhaust options.. then a re-tear down for the frame to get pc'd.

so i dont really follow anyones builds here anymore because of certain reasons, but i always come back to yours man. such great work! i cant wait to see this when its done!

thanks man yeah it has been one head scratching journey with this thing.. just glad its kept on track and moving forward. hope all is well with you! any new projects going on?

haha i hear that, but definitely worth it. I think we all have those "i hate this bike" moments while building, but its so rewarding when we get it right.
love the flow of everything man, the mix of modern and vintage is great!
all is well here, super busy. just finished a cb550 for a customer, some work on a bmw r65 and close to finishing a small kawasaki baby racer. some other stuff in the works as well, hopefully youll see in a few moths if it works out...
anyway, back to your bike,
have you picked colors yet?

nice id love to see some pics of the R65 sometime. yeah going black and gold.. everything will be black primarily, but the hubs, paint accents, and an allen set i got from the UK will be gold.

moving forward here a bit, just picked up some cbr1000rr rearsets for the 450, seems like it should be a logical fit on the brake side, (duh) but the clutch side looks to be more of a challenge at hand. ive attached a couple pictures for a reference point, im thinking about how ill mount the shifter. as you can see on the cbr, its not attached and runs back to the peg setup. so having that said.. will I mount the shifter under the peg going forward like normal? also, I have pointed an arrow at the part of the linkage that connects to the splined shaft, does anyone know if there is one of these out there that will fit mine? I don't have the rearsets in hand so I don't know if the one I just bought will fit or not.. maybe ill get lucky, then again probably not. hah

Im not sure exactaly what you will need, but I built my linkage for my rearsets (cb550). Here is a link to a site with alot of different linkage pieces that may get you started

Found this bike on YouTube and they used a big brake kit to get the caliper to clear the spokes

nice nice, yeah I need some spacers milled for my calipers as they need to be raised up a little to work with the brake rotors.. those look really nice, im sure those are prolly galfer rotors and cost a fortune.. super cool though.

I use cbr1000 rearset on my cb750 build. I made a bracket that bolts on to frame then rearset bolts to bracket. Might work for you. I had two sets of brackets made and still have a set sitting around if you want it.
