Still not my cuppatea, but it's definitely the best looking Wing I've seen.
Any idea what those tires are?
I'm not that much of a tea drinker myself... ;D
But the tires are a reproduction Firestone, the rear wheel on these is a 16" and there are pretty much no options for a moderately aggressive tire in that size.
They look cool, but I'll have to see how they hold up.

looking at the pics of him welding up the tank, looks like it's gonna remain empty and just for aesthetics/ergonomics.
i like this idea a lot.
Shooting for nothing fake on the bike, the "tank" will be a tank in my version, I've been able to turn about half the volume into fuel storage, and the propane tank under the frame will hold the rest of the fuel, hope to have about 4 gallons all told. My sheet metal work leaves a good bit to be desired, but I'll try and get that thing back to water tight.

KRB definatley had some mad skill going on on that build and your right the lift is the base of a barbers chair. He didn't like the shape of the stock false tank and cut the bottom out of a real tank to make his shelter.
On early 'Wings the normal "tank" is just a faux cover, or shelter that covers the air filter and electricals, (CDI ignitors, turn signal flasher, rectifier, etc.) and as was stated the actual gas tank is under the seat, behind the engine and ahead of the rear wheel. you access the fill neck by opening a door on the top of the shelter.
On KRB's build he is using that spun aluminum tank ahead of the mono shock to hold his fuel.
To give you a better idea of what all KRB has done. Here is what is housed under the shelter on my '81 when I tore it down.
You pretty much got it there Hoosier, all the electric is still under there, I've just tried to consolidate it as much as possible.
Good to see you over here as well!

these bikes are heavy I know but his is bascially just a motor wheels and looks like good suspension, it will move. That would/will be one fun bike to ride. The torque out of these things is addictive, i slow down on mine just so I can twist the throttle and take off again ;D and they actually corner half decent stock but I bet his will be better.
Cheers,
Heavy is right, I've tried to eliminate as much weight as possible, if I don't need it to run, I took it off, very interested to see what the new weight comes out to be.

yep i am in love! that intake set up is just wicked! those suckers are heavy that must be one bad ass mono shock on there, the inverted forks and what appear to be XS650 wheels! just awesome!!!! hydrolic clutch, braided lines all around, what looks to be a R1 or R6 master (maybe even GSXR)
and those meat eater tires... going to be a wicked build, can not wait to see what is planned for that seat pan
GSXR suspension, including the mono-shock, if you think about how the mono-shock is OE mounted with the links, they have a whole bunch more leverage exerted on them that way than in this direct application, the feel is pretty good, but a bit light. I've got a slightly heavier spring to put on and I think it will be good.
Actually can't remember what the rear master came from, and the seat will be a pretty basic seat with pleats across it, kinda old Honda style.
Once the tank is locked in place I'll tackle that.

.....This thing is awesome. Its like the big farmboy cousin to all those BMW bobs your seein nowadays! ......Its like some sort of post apocalyptic death machine.....
Ok, you sir are the reason I signed up, you pretty much EXACTLY described what I was going for with the bike, almost word-for-word.
I've wanted a Beemer for a very long time, but I could afford a GoldWing, so I'm making my farmboy version of the German boxer, and I pretty much build everything into a no-frills post apocalyptic ride.
So either you are very astute or I made the bike too obvious, either way, thanks! I'll have to swing by and have you take it for a spin.
cheers!
