interested to see how this plays out. I went to kick over my bike the other day and it felt like i just put it into a pile of mud Really weird. Drained the oil and refilled it. Seems that there was too much oil in the engine somehow.....may have been me idk. Seemed to self resolve after draining some of the oil out. very tight looking machine btw.
So im all pissed at work and all i can do is think of what the problem is and what to do. As i said i most always " Plan for the worst and hope for the best " well might turn out to be the best . I said fuk it and took the rest of the day off to go home and work on the bike . So after sitting and thinking what could it be and what did i do last from when it worked to when it didnt i came up with the clutch engage /disegage arm . I Drained the oil and pulled the started side cover off which the arm is bolted to and there you have it !!!!!!! Works like it should so now am thinking that the clutch was half engaged half out . Now im going to look around and see if thats was it 100% or only 80% . So if it turns out to be just the arm is messed up will fix or replace and go from there !!!!!!!!! We will see and thanks guys for all the help !!!
So after pulling the left side motor cover off everything went back to working right . Im thinking something with the clutch set up is off and not engageing / disengageing the kicker . Or something is wrong with the clutch arm where the clutch cable engages the clutch .... this lil sucker
Will be looking into if its this lil part as dont know what the PO did or didnt do so will start there. If thats not it will move on to the clutch plates itself and see if there stuck or need replaced ! When i was doing the motor work the clutch seemed fine . If i have to replace will be looking to up grade the clutch and get it right !
Well, if you do need to replace the clutch, at least you can still get new parts... The FZ and Maxim motors used the same bits. One of the few things Yamaha thought good enough to use in something else!
Not quite... Before the FZR- the FZ600, or a Maxim 550 should work, too. I gotta be honest, I don't know if the FZR was even close. I do know the plates and steels fit into the TX/XS clutch basket, though. Same part numbers, even.
Thanks ryan and 2smoker ! Will look into it and spent some time in the shop and thinking that its not so much the clutch itself . Thinking its more of a adjustment with the clutch as it seemed to be engaged/disengaged so left the kicker in limbo. So plan on starting from there and see what happens!
IDK dread rock i just loosened my clutch adjustment and bingo bango problem gone. I was thinking it would of been the same for you. Hope it's not to crazy a fix.
Thank you very much im trying ! Well got the order from Dime City and this is what i got ...
Spent some time messing with it last night and have to say im likeing it . Still waiting on the spacers going to give the guy all the time he needs so there right the first time around i m hoping !
Also can anyone give me some info on the adjuster arm for the clutch as the manual sucks !
Its in the thread someplace but i are you talking about the red and white yamaha decals? If so i picked them up off ebay. There made for modern sport bikes but fit NPs and you just clean the rims and take your time . Helps if the wheel is off the ground so you dont have to work upside down or what not . You can get them in any color or make and they came with a few extras . Think this is what you are asking me lol
