Just picked up this bad boy for $800.

1981 GL500 Silverwing with 9200 miles.

That is sweet man, very envious!

Thanks for the support, All. If ever anyone is passing through central OH and needs a pit-stop, shoot me a PM. I love looking at old (new is OK too) bikes and meeting fellow enthusiasts.

I am taking baby steps and have set a goal of no more posts in this thread for at least 48 hours. Ok, make it 24 :p

Dreadrock snagged this for me as a parts bike up near him in Ohio. Couldn't say no for $75. Then I get a text saying that its apparently some one year only (1978) "2F0" high comp badassery motor. I have no idea what exactly that entails at the moment, but I'm about to start the research...

Von, the main difference is the carbs, Mikuni BS38mm, difficult to find parts for them
I put about an extra 17,000 on mine, it's really tired now and waiting for a major rebuild

Isn't there a show about this sort of thing . . . ;)

Haha everyone tells me about the show (i don't have Cable) when they start telling me about it I show em the real deal so straight trade for the 250 right? ;D just kidding i'd throw cash on top all day for that thing

My latest is not a purchase, but an inheritance. It is a 1984 Kawasaki KZ550 LTD shaftdrive. Everyone, including Kawasaki, keep telling me that this model does not exist. But we have all of the paperwork on the bike.

My cousin picked up this littlest beauty in very poor shape about 5 years ago for $200. He spent 3 years restoring it slowly. In March, he passed it along to me, as I had begged him to sell it to me shortly after he got it. He has replaced the wiring, lights, seat, exhaust, starter, front master cylinder, all chrome, and ignition. Even has the original owners manual. This bike has a lot of sentimental value to me because of him giving it to me, an ld he has recently informed me that he is dying. This bike will never get chopped, and I will never part with it. I plan on completing the restoration to factory appearance.
