Re: Project Gretta: The evolution of a confused '74 360
Update time!
Got a bunch of stuff done today.
Finished painting the swingarm and took the frame and arm to my friend to get clear powdercoated.
I also finished the bodywork on the tank. It had some cast lined that needed removed. I then shot a coat of white primer on the seat and tank. I bought the paint for the tank and seat today, and am just waiting on the primer to cure so I can shoot it.
I shot a test swatch of the color today to see what it looks like, and I have decided to use just the colors. I love the combination, and don't want to overwhelm the bike with the bowling ball paint. I think it looks amazing as is. I also ordered some tank badges today. It's something different and I think they look damn cool. They're actually off of a Honda Shadow VLX custom. I think they put them on the sissy bar. It's a honda part, so I'm gonna rock it! I think it'll look sick on the tank side.
I have to give a shout out to MarcW on here. He sent me some great parts for my build and is just an all around awesome guy. If it weren't for him and Troybilt, there is a lot that wouldnt be done here on the ol girl. Thanks fellas! I'll pay it forward continually because of guys like you!
I shot some paint on some of the bike bits today too after blasting them in my cabinet. Odds and ends like the kickstand, the brake brackets and the rearset levers. They'll all be black. I used Rustoleum industrial gloss black. It's tough as nails...I imagine a lot like the appliance epoxy. I think it looks good,
The clutch cover got the JB weld put in the honda badge. It's gotta set over night and then I'll shoot it with the high heat wrinkle.
She's coming right along. I work tomorrow, so no progress, but I'm supposed to pick the frame back up Monday. Then I plan to shoot the skins.
I painted the fenders with rubberized undercoating on the bottom side, and when it dries, I'll use some glazing compound to get them smooth so I can paint all of the skins at one time.
Oh! I also ordered a custom Stainless 2:2 exhaust from ChrisF today. I'm stoked about that. I think it will really bring the bike together.
Well, that's all I think...If I forgot something I'll post it later. Hope you guys enjoy, and as always, comments are more than welcome! Have a good evening fellas!
The fender undercoating:
The painted bits. Bling!
The tank badges:
The primed tank and seat:
The test swatch. I love it! It's Miriam white from a Buick, and a color called Aztec dust that they use on Chevrolet SUVs.
More to come as always!!!
