Project RD400 CutNPaste

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

How about restoring it back to original? It's a Daytona, and you don't see many of those. Once it's back to original sell it for around 3 grand, buy a pos rat bike that deserves to be cut up

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

read the thread from the start and you'll see why.

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

I already have a restored RD400 Daytona. This one is for fun and I don't really need the money that bad.

Started some spray bombing. Painted the jugs. I'll polish the fins edges at a later time. The swingarm i started with the twilight blue. I did the lowe triple clamp as well.

Looking great man, that blue has a nice pop to it! I don't care what kind of bike it is, its yours and do what you want with it....I have read several post lately from people protesting cutting up a bike.....WTF....when did DTT'ers start acting like the SOHC guys! Come the fuck on....a bike can mean a lot more to an owner if it is built his way buy his hands! I say good on you dirtbag for your already restored and your "fun" project. Keep up the work and let the cutting wheels turn brother!

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

Preserve our history! Go, cut, and hack the shit out of bikes that are NOT a part of motorcycling history! Lot's of collectable bikes just like the RD Daytona's are becoming rarer by the day, and some people who don't think past today are making them even rarer. If you are too ignorant enough to see this, and still feel justified in destroying one, at least offer up the good parts, especially bodywork for sale or trade to those who appreciate fine bikes, and are trying to preserve some history.

First off, all of the original parts I pull from a bike go up for sale unless I decide to keep incase I want to restore. Second thing is at least it is not sitting under some tarp rusting and rotting away. In a way, any work done to a bike to keep it running and on the roads is preserving history, even the history of the cafe racer and its lineage. Last of all, any person with the skill sets it takes to do a factory restoration of museum quality should be able to return the bike to its once original state, it just may take more work. If you want to restore a bike, great....get after it, but don't act all high and mighty about what other people do with there bikes.

Dirtbag, sorry for the thread jack, I promise I wont clutter your thread anymore wasting time on this debate.

Keep up the work and I look forward to your cutting wheel carnage vid!

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

Tell you what. I'll restore it to this condition if you give me 5000 bucks for it. Then you can let it sit under a pine tree for another 15 years.

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

"to each his own",.... guess some people just dont get what that means...lol
chop on d.b

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

Yep a Daytona is rare. Having a restored Daytona already, I think DB gets it. The end of an era, the holy grail.....bla bla bla. I dig where your headed with the build...not all bikes need to be restored to stock, and I'm pretty sure this site dont go by "DTR" ( Do The Restoration ) :p

I've got the remnants of a Daytona here ( that I parted ) if ya need anything off it let me know.

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

Do you have a rear fender? My other RD has a chopped one and i'd like a stock one on it.

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

point is, everyone should do what makes them happy. ;D

what would be the point of dirtbag restoring the bike to stock, having it be worth 5000$, but not enjoying it when hed go to ride it?
itd be pointless.
so why not build something that would put a smile on his face goin down the block.
its not worth sacrificing your happyness for someone elses opinions. purist or not.
have fun with it dirtbag. do as you please, im sure almost everyone here will support you, whether you'd decided to cut it up or go to a full resto.
and that goes for everybody. individuality, creativity, thats what dtt is about. respecting each others thoughts, opinions and styles.

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

I'm also ordering up a chinoy digital igntion for this bad boy. It'll be completely rewired.

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike

Bodywork was the first thing to go when I started parting it out, sorry no rear fender.

Re: Project UberNaked RD400 Brat Bike
