The belly tank has been trial fitted with the filler in a new simpler location as we no longer need to worry about that part of the Glmseck event regs. that meant blanking off the hole in the back of the seat where the filler cap was going to be sited.
as soon as the weather warms up the tank and seat will get the final top coats.
Thanx Brodie ..... me too !!!!! The last 5 years have just disappeared - a whole train of serious illnesses and a long and toxic divorce [ not to mention expensive ].
However I'm determined to get back on track now that my Chronic Kidney Disease is under control.
My build buddy and lifetime friend Brian has also been struck by serious illness and mercifully he has come out the other side on two feet. The dynamic duo are back !!

Leather upholstery pre-fitted to my old AJS 7R seat base.
Just need some large jaw C clamps to push the "fir tree" fittings right home.
During my forced "down time" I also got the spark plug lengths sorted out for the additional centre plug.
The area where the plug breaks through into the head chamber needs a bit of fettling to eliminate sharp potential pre-ignition points and then smoothing out for the flame path.
I have two modified heads, one with 10mm centre plugs .......... not sure which to use yet.
Well the "fir tree" fixings didn't !. The seat upholstery wouldn't pull down flush with the seat base.
Plan B .. rip the fir trees out and resin glue in some alloy Rivnuts in place. Works a charm and as there is no need to remove the upho;stery now I've done a POC I'll glue it as well. Baby steps, but at least in the right direction.
Last pics - what keeps me sane .... the lake just 50yds from my front door
Tank and seat completed - just debating with myself to satin clear coat or just rub out with fine cutting compound ?
I'm going to go down the Manx style tank strap route after all. Sorted out how to do the rear section - just the front with over centre clip now [ dummy ]. NO, I haven't decided to paint it satin black - that was plan B or C - 3 years ago [ really !! ]
Yes it will do the job ......................... Manx tank strap from suppliers - £68 - my version, £2.50 for the rubber extrusion [ metre ], £3.90 for the perforated "engineer's strip" [ metre ] and the over centre clip was a freebie - but £7.00 to buy retail.
Plus a bit of lateral thinking.
The fixings are only temporary, what I had laying about in my shed - all the good stuff is in the garage.
I need to check the headstock on the bike now to see where I can mount the front strap and over centre clip.
It's fairly obvious it's a dummy .... but then so is the tank !!!!!
Feedback required guys ............................... I mocked up the front section of the tank strap - and it doesn't look "convincing" as a Manx style tank strap. Problem is the central position of the gas cap - and I'm not about to relocate it to one side !
So, what do we think of plan C [ or was it F or G ? ], a central red stripe in the same colour as the frame ?
Or just leave the tank and seat in Silver.
BTW, the mock up pix from 2 years ago - the circle of red around the filler depression was subsequently ditched - but no pic.
I'm having a hard time debating this with myself ...............................
I'm going to prep and spray the 1/2 fairing anyway [ silver / red stripe {s} ] and I've already mocked up the mounting brackets.
I suppose it could be an option as the bike will be daylight MOT [ tech inspection ] and as such won't require lights - although I intend to fit subtle LED brake lights in the interests of self preservation.
I think the fairing looks good on that bike; Looks like it belongs there.. bottom lines of the fairing tie in nicely with the tank you've chosen also- to my eyes.
