The 安いスリル CL360

Re: 安いスリル CL360

They've definitely been into before. You can see the slip marks in the screwdriver grooves on the jets. They look good though. Make sure that your float valves are free by pushing on the float arms and looking at the valve while it moves up and down. Then take the jets out and clean soak them in carb cleaner for good measure. Just to make sure. Are you going to run pods and aftermarket pipes? If so, you may consider rejetting now while you have it this far apart. You're lucky, those diaphragms are notorious for being effed up.

you can use a cut down o-ring for a gasket. Just get a long one from the hardware store and cram it into the groove and cut to fit. Then put a dab of RTV in the o-ring where the two ends meet and you're golden. It'll cost a dollar or less.

Yes I plan on running pod filters and I'd like to run the scrambler pipes as just the pipes with maybe a homemade drilled cone baffle thing in there. Depending on what I do for pegs, I may extend the pipes a few inches too just so I don't have the hot exhaust blowing on my leg.

When I reinstall the jets, do I just tighten them down until their snug or do they need loctite or something? If it should be rejetted, what size jets should I use and where can I get them? What diameter O-ring should I get? Where can I get new carb boots? I noticed tonight that one of them is starting to crack.

Re: 安いスリル CL360

You won't have to use loctite, just snug them down. But remember they are brass so don't get em too tight. I found a guide somewhere before for "general" jetting but you will have to get a couple different sizes anyway to fine tune it.

Might not need a new gasket. If you put some gas in there and it's not leaking, go with it. But try to find some type of gasket eventually anyways.
And the rubber boots.... I've never had to find new ones but I recall people saying they were a PITA to find. Ebay?

Re: 安いスリル CL360

Lucky your diaphragms aren't torn. Prob thanks to the PO, looks like one of those floats are new(er)... I've had to buy two sets of carbs for my 360, to finally get an intact set of Dia's (long story, first set guy "forgot" to re-install slides/dia's...) put my project a month behind.

Any Updates?

Yeah I've been a lot more active on the other forum. I'll start copying my posts from there now.

If I remove the electric start, will I need a new cover to replace the one in the picture below or do I make a block of plate for the back? Does anyone have any pictures of this?
P1310423.jpg

Loosing the electric starter would make the build easier but I guess I'm still not totally sold on the idea of ALWAYS kick starting the bike. My dad and uncles have had some bikes in the past that were an absolute bear to kick over and I really don't want that to happen. Then again, I've been told by a few people that these bikes are easy to kick over...

Does anyone know if pretty much all handle bar controls are wired the same way? Reason I'm wondering is because the more I look at the stock knobs (headlight, turn signals, starter button, etc.) the more I would like to find something a little smaller. Perhaps a newer bike used slimmer or more visually appealing controls? I just figured I could move to the electric start button under the gas tank (if I even keep it) and I could wire the headlight to always be on when the ignition is on similar to modern bikes so that will really help clean up the right side controls. It still leaves the left side big and bulky though. Does anyone know of anything that will fit my needs and be relatively cheap? Since the stock bars will be swapped for the drag bars I might as well change the controls when I rewire the bars.

Anyone know what to use to paint over all the chrome bits? I hate chrome and all its bling bling look at me shininess.

Also, a local guy had to buy an engine gasket kit for his CB360 and he said I can have what's left of the kit (everything but the clutch cover gasket and exhaust seals). Can I buy the clutch cover gasket or exhaust seals separately anywhere?

Re: 安いスリル CL360

I've been slacking and haven't even submitted the paperwork for getting a lost title, but if I have that and I can get the bike running, I should be able to finish it in no time at all.

The wife of a guy my dad works with has been on his case about getting rid of all the shit in their garage so she can pull her car in at night. One of the things in his garage is a 19?? CB900 cruiser that has been sitting for several years. Since the guy doesn't ride anymore and he really likes my dad (not in a gay way) my dad is going to see if he can getthe bike from the guy for free or cheap. I figure I can use the lights and maybe the front end but the rest will probably sit a while. Do you think I could get away with transfering the title to the CL360?

Re: 安いスリル CL360

I rolled the bike outside today so there are finally pics of it under natural light. I tried tucking in the wires as much as possible but there are still some hanging in the back. I also hooked up the cables and found out I'm missing one and some of the ones I do have should be replaced because they are cracked. When I sat on the bike (first time without it being on the center stand) the rear shocks made a squish noise so I may need new rear shocks after all. Here's the pics...

Re: 安いスリル CL360

I'll need a new throttle plastic grip part. One of the tabs is busted off so the end of the cable won't stay in it's spot. Another thing I forgot to post earlier, the bike won't shift past second gear. Is something wrong with the trans? If so, what do you think it is or do you need more info?

The first race is coming up too soon and there is a really good chance my car won't be finished in time. I've got some parts coming in the mail so I can hopefully reassemble the front suspension/brakes soon and at least get it back to roller status. When working on my car, I'll be just about done with something and then I'll think to myself, "while I have this apart I might as well...." This is why my car is still in the air even though I was hoping to be driving it by now. The fact that I just hate half assing things is both good and bad, but in this case I think I got a little carried away.

Re: 安いスリル CL360

I also took off the foot brake lever and put it back on so it's pointed down more and won't rub on the motor. The problem with this is that even with the rear brake linkage adjusted as far as it goes, it still doesn't apply the rear brake with much force. Or is that because it is a 30 year old drum brake? lol

Re: 安いスリル CL360

After looking at the bike some more, I don't like that you can see so much of the frame in front of the gas tank. However, if I move this tank any more forward, the fuel petcock will hit the motor. I'll either be in need of a shorter fuel petcock or I just need to live with a slightly more exposed frame.
91.jpg

It's this kind of little stuff that will really slow down the build but make it that much better when it's all done. Sometimes it even drives me nuts.

One other good thing about leaving the tank back is that I can relocate the ignition key to the front of the tank in this gap. If I make a new bracket for it, it will fit perfectly in that area. The stock location makes me nervous thinking about possibly using a key chain and having it melt on the exhaust.

Re: 安いスリル CL360

After rolling the bike down the driveway to test the rear brake after adjusting it, I roll it back into the garage and notice rusty water dripping from the upper part of the frame. Should I be concerned about this or is there anything I can do or should do?

Re: 安いスリル CL360

Then I decided to take a break and eat some Oreos. You know, normal Oreos are ok, and double stuffed Oreos are pretty good, but why stop there?
DoubleStuffedOREO.jpg

I don't remember if I've posted this or not but here is my plan for the exhaust mounting...

My plan is to cut off all the heat shield mounting tabs (I'm hoping wrapping the pipes will make it bearable) and then modify the stock rear mount. I was thinking, instead of having that bracket come off the swing arm pivot, that I would could cut the back piece shorter. Then I would take the front piece and cut off the top of the bracket where the upper bolt goes so only the middle bolt will be there. Then I'll weld a short tube to the frame of the bike and the back bracket to that tube. I'll thread the inside of the tube and then use the single middle bolt to hold the exhaust in place. It would mount in the same location as stock, but it would have a cleaner look because of less material and the hidden mount. It'll kind of look like the mount is floating.

Re: 安いスリル CL360

I was looking at the rear shocks today and noticed this sticker on the bottom with a brand name and part number. It says "SHOWA MG5-671." I did a google and eBay search and nothing came up with either.

Re: 安いスリル CL360

I did some thinking about rear sets too. Here is what I came up with...

The red would be the brackets (coming off the stock foot rest bolt and the swing arm pivot), the blue/purple dot would be the new peg location, and the end of the brake lever/shift lever would be somewhere along the yellow arc.
97.jpg

98.jpg

After taking a closer look at the pictures, the yellow arc in the first picture will probably need to be moved closer to the peg location in order to clear the kick starter. Otherwise I planned on just wacking off the stock foot brake lever and welding my own concoction to the factory splined part and I'll just live with the extra force I'll have to apply to get the same brake pressure. If I make these rear sets or something along these lines I likely cut off the hoops for the passenger pegs.

What do you think about using a fold-able peg such as the passenger pegs for my feet? I'm thinking that the right side peg will need to be folded up in order to clear the kick start otherwise it will either have to move back to where the passenger peg was originally or I'll have to have a peg that barely sticks out from the bike.

Re: 安いスリル CL360

I was playing with the idea of relocating the key before I went to work last night and this is what I what I ended up with. I just left the stock mount intact and let it sit there for the pics. I don't want to fab up a mount for it until I know exactly how the tank will sit on the bike.

I can't move the tank forward much otherwise it will hit the upper triple at full lock. I wish the gaps were a little smaller but I don't know if I want to weld a little lip to the tank to close it or not. I need to fix the one edge in the curve from the top down view. It has a nice curve except for that one spot so I'll have to do something about that.

Re: 安いスリル CL360

Does anyone know where I can get a logo like the HONDA on the side of the gas tank custom made? Due to the cost for something like that I suppose I'm better off trying to make it myself aren't I?

Does anyone know where to get the stickers and decals that are found all over the bike? I want to put those back on there after everything gets a fresh coat of paint. I'm talking about the warning label on the tank and the notice about exhaust mods on the swinger. Any ideas?

So I've got some big news!

I bought another bike!! :D

No, I won't be abandoning this project. The bike I bought will actually help it along. It's another '74 CL360 that I saw at the swap meet I went to today in Woodstock, IL. After talking to the guy for a bit, he dropped the price from $80 to $50. I told him I'd think about it and finished walking around the rest of the meet. When I can back, he was starting to load up all his stuff and the bike was still sitting there so I told him, "I'll give you $20 and roll it away right now. Deal?" He took the $20 and said thanks for the gas money.

SWEET!!! $20 for another motorcycle!!! Here's the pictures of the new bike...

Unfortunately the head light it cracked and the turn signal lens' are also cracked but hopefully they will still work. The turn signals will be replaced with something more slim anyway but the head light will probably be run as is for now.

I bought it mostly for the lights, upper triple and spare engine. In fact, as I was rolling it back to the trailer I had a guy stop me and ask me about the bike. Turns out he wants to buy the frame. SCORE!!! I bought the bike for $20 and I can probably sell the frame alone for over that even though it doesn't have a title!!

Here are the twins back in the garage. I threw the other tank and side cover I got from CK on the new bike just to make it look more complete. Now I'm thinking of maybe doing a cafe on the one and a restoration on the other??? What do you guys think? Just part it out anyway?

TheTwins1.jpg

TheTwins2.jpg

You should be ashamed of yourself! Robbing the guy like that.

Resto's cost big $ (like everything else) so I'd part out the spare. Then use that money to fund the cafe. Any news on the title?

the shocks are off a cb1100F. not rebuildable ordinarily.

Love that tank.

you could try http://www.cbdecals.com, or http://www.reproductiondecals.com/default_frameset.html?hon13_content.html~main. Bought lots of stuff from both, and they're good to deal with. Not familiar with your model, but they seem to have some stuff. Certainly all the warning labels.
