The 'leftovers' project - XS650

Yeah yeah. Attention turned to the BMW for my daily ride, the Spring Thaw, and the SR500 which was already in the garage in rolling chassis form. The rigid will get some love soon, but not likely till fall.
 
Yeah I know. Engine is built sitting and waiting. Wheels are ready. Need to shorten the forks, install the tapered bearings, space the wheels...

Lots of fabrication needed. No mounts for seat, tank, footpegs, fenders etc. Just the bare frame. So it's an adventure :)
 
Finally! These are the bars for the bike :) custom bent by Craig at Front St Cycles. He also did the fenders for the bike.

Man... Those are pretty wild. Cant wait to see them on the bike. Hard to really picture the "look" from that photo.
 
that is a HELL of a pull back, i also need to see a pic of these on the scoot, hurts my wrists looking at themm hahaha
 
Any chance this thing is moving forward Tim? I finally have my blasting/powder setup in motion and am looking at my boxes of XS parts, wondering what to do. Should I head the enduro/tracker route, or buy a xl500/600 and bob out my XS. Dilemmas, dilemmas.
 
Haven't made any real progress on it. All my spare time has been sucked up by other projects. But, things should settle down between now and the fall, so by then I should have a chance to do some real work on the bike.

My bars/fenders are still in Rochester! Planning on picking them up in the next couple of weeks, along with my body work from Kiley for the BMW. Gotta get it ready to ride to Kentucky in May.
 
Rohcester! I coulda picked em up for you last week when I went down to pick up a magneto! I was even in Toronto proper a few days afterwards.
 
Bah! Well, I have to go anyhow to pick up my BMW parts Kiley is painting.
 
I shouldn't have read this thread, the anticipation is going to kill me! Looking good Tim.
 
Yeah so this happened today. Back at it - will be riding it in the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride and at Mama Tried #8 in 2017 :)
