Dammit! It's possible I'm an idiot - one thing I never checked, and in winter gloves it's quite possibly what I've done...
Hopefully that's the answer and I'm just having one of those days :-[
Thanks for the reply Stroker, I definitely had a 'face palm' moment when I read it haha
Edit: It was the bloody kill switch. hadn't flipped it completely over, but clearly enough to have an impact on my morning... That's a mistake I (probably) won't make again.
For those of you that have replaced the twin rear shocks, either for the ooracing ones, or sourced your own, did you measure the top and bottom eye ID?what is the correct bolt size? I know the stock length of the shocks is 330mm, but I don`t currently have a lift to take out the shock to measure myself. I'm looking to upgrade to a pair of hagon 2810's or bitubo wme's down the road...
I reconnected my side stand switch the other day. In all my years of motorcycling I had never used a switch like that and had never ridden off with the stand down, but I did one day last week after a long day at work. It just touched on the first slow gentle corner but gave me a hell of a fright. It does mean sitting on the bike for a little while while it warms up but on the plus side side when you arrive somewhere bike stops automatically when you put the stand down. I'll probably now find that I walk away and leave the key in it
I'll add replacing them to the to do list. My speedo came with 6 wee magnets. Either using 1 of them or 5 of them works fine, just have to tell the speedo how many there are and the circumference of the tyre. They just sit in the bolt heads perfectly with N facing outwards.
Not done been near the bike a lot recently (living a couple hours from home due to uni) but made a couple of changes last time I was home.
Saw an original Dream 50 while at Motorcycle Live in November and one thing large difference that struck me between this and our Aces was the length of the rear fender, or more to the point the large patch of silver that extends under the seat. One our bikes we have a large black plastic mudguard here.
Would ideally like to have a rear hugger eventually but for now I thought I would see what sort of difference painting this mudguard makes. Quite pleased with the result, paint match looks better in the photos than real life but it's not too noticeable due to the location. Might have a go with the chain guard now too
Just worked out for sure that my tank is leaking from the seam under the rear tank bracket right where you cant get to it to lead wipe the leaky seam.. typical.
its been leaking from day one but i put it down to fuel coming out of the tank under brakes, but i fixed that and its still weeping along the back.
Ive used tank sealers before on bikes and find them a bit hit or miss and a messy weekend job when i could be out riding. so a new tank is on the way from ikonik.
price was way better then getting it shipped from the UK to Oz.
(its a bit hard to see but the leak goes behind the bracket.)
explains the constant stale fuel smell
