OK, talked to Jody at the campground. He said that we do not have to pay anything up front, not even a deposit. What we do have to do is provide a credit card (or cards) to hold the reservation. He quoted me some different numbers than Mike so I'm not sure what it would actually cost. He currently has the hostel and motel penciled in for us and he said he would hold that until Monday so we could figure out who's card(s) to put it on. He said we can cancel up to a week before hand, and he won't charge us. He won't actually put a deposit on the card either, he just wants the numbers in case we cancel at the last minute.
Some info:
Hostel, has 6 rooms with 10 single beds and 1 full bed (supposed to sleep 2 ppl). Is air-conditioned and has 2 bathrooms.
Motel, each room has 2 full beds (supposed to sleep 2 ppl per bed for a total of 4 per room). Is air-conditioned and has bathrooms. He said he can add a 3rd bed in each room for $10 more.
I'm staying in the hostel because I think it is going to be a bit hot for tent camping.
Since we only have 25 confirmed and a number of them are wanting to tent it, here is what I suggest. One of us (maybe me....will have to check with the boss) puts the hostel reservation on their card. That gives us beds for 11 or 12 and access to the bathrooms/showers for tent campers. Then if anybody wants a room in the motel, they can reserve that themselves. Remember, if you are not sure you are coming and you wanted to stay in the motel, you can go ahead and reserve a room because you can always cancel the reservation. Sound good?
