How important is it to due a powder-cleatcoat over the color? Does it make a difference on durability or just aesthetic? Would you be able to show off a test piece like a gloss black bottle. Half with clearcoat and half without?
there is no point to be honest Matt, only time we clear black is on tins, so we have an area to cut and buff... only time clear is needed is for reasons like that, and/or it is required for chemical, uv, or reaction purposes. here is a sample

as you can see there is really no difference over black
