FZR600 fighter

ahhh man i love it!!! i wish i did not have customer stuff to do tonight i would be all over it! i even have a solid idea on how to do it!

i am going to cut off the lower part that bolts to the bike, the lower part of the stay, then i am planning on makeing the same style headlight ears as twisted did on his build... bolt that to the original bracket, then powder it all, that should get it nice and close... least that is the plan so far... i am sure my buddy mitch (my machinist) if i can get the bike in the shop by him he will come up wiht something crazy, i really would like some blocky headlight ears. something that will be thick and add some depth and thickness to the front end

nice, i too think somethink nice and thick would look good, it would add to the overall look you have goin

something like this but much thicker at the clamp,

the other option would be to... cut up the extra stock upper tree that i have, and make that into a clamp... that may be the best idea and look the cleanest,,, plus i can coat it so that it is a perfect match to the rest of the black up front!

i think using that tree you have would look a lot cleaner and the benefit is its half way done already.

ya but i would have to cut up the top of the tree i have, when i was planningon use the extra forks on my CB500 build... hummmm what to do. may have to wait and see what Mitch has to say it would be a 5 min job on a mill so we will see what he says if not i may go in there with my trees as a startng point and we can just build off of that

Well that changes everything, I thought you had no use for them, in that case if your buddy can fab'm up for you then I'd say that would be the better way to go.

i photoshoped it for you real quik.
before.
and after
with the light/fairing/cluster tucked in a bit

That looks much better, but try pulling it slightly closer to the fork legs and lower it slightly and it would be even sweeter IMHO. Brackets will need to be as small and light as possible so they take up little or no space. try to unclutter the front end a little.

That's the problem with projects, you keep changing and improving the design as you go along.

I finally got off my ass and changed the Phat Trakka seat again. Must be on design 57 by now and changed the tank again. I think I'm OK with both now, so i have to look at paint next before I change my mind. Yours has made more progress than mine.

and that my friend! that solves it!!! man that looks wicked tucked in there! love it!!!

THANK GOD! Only took 9 pages and about a month...... ;D

Seriously, I haven't been able to look at your bike without thinking "what if the headlight wasn't stuck out there like a turtle neck......"

It does need to go down a bit though - so the bottom of the headlight unit sits in line with the bottom triple clamp. But that will probably expose the stock gauges......Hmmm.......Acewell time ??? ::)

The bike looks great man!

I agree with those who said you should tuck the light in, and lower it to the bottom triple. It would flow a lot better. Definitely get an acewell too for your gauges.

NO acewell... besides if i was goign to go with diff guages i would rock a Vapor Kit, comes with everythign and would let me get rid of my speedo cable. I am going to move it as close as i can and still keep the stock brackets... this bike is a low budget build, i barely have a few hundo into it, i want to keep it that way. I have 8 other bikes and 2 of which have the motors out for engine work. the harley is going to cost me over 1800 in parts alone to get to over 100HP... so i have to keep it low on this one... I tend to get consumed in builds, i will not let that happen with this one :)

put it in the rocket joe, only a few hundred in it and it already has over 100hp! Looks cooler to IMO! Hahaha! I will never stop giving you hell about the hogs!

ahhhhhhh i just called the wife and ran the idea past her and she said "well thats a no brainer" put on the new speedo thing. :( i can not win! so i emailed my best friend and brother the unit to see what they though... both voted YES... ahhh man, looks like i am ordering it. ooh well, that will allow me to tuck that head light WAY WAY up in the trees, and i can mount the speedo to a custom bracket. how does this always seem to snowball!
