thanks man, i hate the headlight! but that will change soon enough, too far out!

Funny you say that, when you first got it on, we said that and you raved about liking it and not changing it! Hahaha, after living with it you saw what we did huh? It happens though, when you make something you are proud of it and will defend it, but the new wears off and you see what others saw right away, and you have to work on it again! I have been there, and will be again, it is just a part of fabbing your own shit! Still looks great though, but it will really look good once it is tucked a little tighter! Where are the fork covers?

fork covers do not fit with the hoses from the raditor, still got to work that out but i am going to wait for the new guages to tuck in the headlight, then i will work the covers in there as well. did not hate how it looked till i saw someone else on the bike riding it... now i hate it! have to move it in, just need the $200 to buy those fkn guages!

Amazon baby!

Also, I'm sorry Joe...I haven't gotten your clamp shipped yet but will do so ASAP.

I really like the fairing you have on there, it def is fighter-style, yet its not over the top like a gaskmask or alien face or whatever other corny stuff those crazy kids are doing to their bikes. Just needs a tuck and it will look great.

Swagger that is a KILLER PRICE!!!!! sold! i am going to use the lamp i have on there just want to move it closer

Should work a treat.
I've heard some guys having troubles with jumpy rpm readings but seems like they rushed the install or just plain gooched it up. I never had a problem...wish i still had one frankly...I will probably order one this week myself for the Bitch...

ha ha ha ha ya i have heard the same... i just took the time to add up the $ i need to finish and tune the HD... so i am not going to spend any $ for the next few weeks! man simple shit like the poly engine mounts, oil pressure sensor, gaskets, fluids, and some other odds and ends add up stupid fast!!!! next thing i knwo i am broke!

Not taking any pokes at you or your families brand, but you know it too, when you buy HD stuff or stuff for HD's, your paying for the name, not the quality! While the quality is good, it is no better than the same product for other makes, that cost half as much!

Sucks that AMERICA'S BRAND ussually can not be afforded by america's blue collar workers!

sad part is i do not use any HD stuff on my HD... my oil pressure sensor is from Jerzee, top end gasket kit is from an after market supplier, fluid is all Amsoil with lucas additive, my oil cooler jack plate is Jaggs, my oil cooler (is still not purchased but will prob be Jaggs), my cams are andrews 37, I am using HD screaming eagle flat top pistons and jugs, but i got a sick deal on them and flat out with the set up i am going they make the best power... i am running a barnett clutch, baker bearings in the inner primary, and timken bearing in the bottem end... hell even my adjustable push rods are not HD... basicly i have pulled amost everything HD out of the motor and upgraded to other products, and to be honest they are more $$$ to go out of the HD name and label. Screaming eagle has some awesome kits they sell that are basicly ready to go... but i want the 100/100 and the only way to get that is to go into the aftermarket world a bit and dig for power! :)

So with all that (I have to ask because I honestly don't know), are you building a strip whore hand grenade or a like a rock endurance beast? Or does this offer both? I have not really ever been into v-twins, so I just believe it to be like all high HP engines, at some point, you go beyond reliable to get MORE POWER! While the power is fun, it typically comes down to paying for that power with the notes of reliability. Sounds like it is a lot of something! ;D

So what kind of life and power do you expect once completed?

The only way to make HD's go fast is to take the HD bits off them. Have a look at a HD drag bike - there's no HD bits on them.....anywhere...

Hillsy that is not all correct bud, their drag bikes are built using screaming eagle race parts, that is the race division at HD. they make some awesome parts. HD just has a bad rep on here for some reason :) but you can use screaming eagle parts and easily get over 100HP in a stage 2
hell HD even sells a out of the box 1/4 mile bike all done up and ready to run!

Twisted, i should be right at 100+ HP and over a 100 ft lbs of torque, that is with a 95 kit. the cams i chose are a bit less agressive to allow for my highway and distance that i put on this bike, also remember i have a 6 speed trans in her as well. as far as reliablity, it will last forever, i am running polly motor mounts, full cooler, along with the head work i have had compression releases installed to make starting easier on the motor... plus being fuel injected i am running a screaming eagle race tuner in the bike so the map that is going to be created for the bike will be unique to my bike alone, it will have a warm up cyclce done right into the mapping. I have that right now in there actually that i created playing with the fuel tables when i did the stage one and exhaust. I expect this motor to last as long as the bike... to be honest i will never sell this sucker so it will be something my kids get to beat on as well. In the 107 we just finished (my buddy is on the way to the tuner right now to get it) it is makin 123 HP and 126ft torque... think about that... that is insame slam you back!

anyway... started the LED kit on the fighter last night, got about 1/2 of it wired in and the LEDS placed still got a few more to put in there to light up the motor a bit more

Joe do you have any experience with the S&S X-wedge motor?
I have a kat here that wants to talk about building a bike around one. What he wants will end up being like a Bandit 1200 style all around standard type rig but with the S&S engine. Looks interesting on paper...thoughts?

nope but i am chomping at the bit to do so! i love that motor! reminds me alot of the buell motors! would be a great motor to build around. Most of the after market V twins i play wiht are rev tech (mainly because no one else will touch them) and the S&S 124 evo seems to be the go to from evo motors instead of doing upgrades to the motor they bolt in the s&s... and then of course the 45 DEG s&s that indian runs... i actually have a 45 torn down in parts right now in my truck for powder! haha ha but never got to play with the wedge, i am not really a motor guy, more of the make them look cool, but i have done lots of rocker box jobs, pulling heads, and crap like that... my HD is the first motor i have ever taken down to the crank and split the cases... thankfully my buddy chad has done a bunch! so he is right there wiht me. funny you mention the wedge i just had a customer call about that motor last week for a flat tracker/chop style build... so i had to sit down an read about it... some awesome reviews!!!!

I rode with a dude years ago that had a built up Lightning. Yeah it had some more torque (could barely keep the front wheel down), and after spending thousands of dollars on the engine, the thing wouldn't start after it got hot, couldn't be left alone to idle on its stand, spewed oil out of the carb, and blew gaskets all the time. And, it was annoying as hell to listen to... My XB's aren't that bad, though. The upgrades I thought were reasonable involved suspension (Buell race springs) and I'm gonna fool around with ECM SPY when I get my XB project going again.

Hey Swagger. When S&S finished development on the x-wedge they gave Chopper Dave one to build a bike around. I have some articles he wrote somewhere in which he says that its a killer lump. He loved it. It was awhile ago so I dont remember details, but the motor seems promising. Hes a cool guy too. I bet if ya e-mailed him he would give ya the skinny on it.

I've just got exhaust, jets, upgraded oil cooler, dyna ignition and coil, and K&N filter on my S1 and it will scream. I don't think I'd want anymore. It already likes to walk around on its back leg.

nice LED colors for that bike, I'll bet it really sets off the paint. Like all LED lighting, Im sure the photos do not come close to capturing the "real life" effect.

ill get some wiht our low light camera when we are done, i should be able to button it up tonight and take it out for a rip on the town glowing!
