Re: Garage Guy Chris's First Cafe 71' CB 450 (massive update, 2 pages worth!)
I think you should cut off the top part of your rear-sets. They're off a CBR right? i say cut your rear-sets down to just the mounting triangle then either polish them or paint them black. Bike looks amazing though!!!
Re: 1975 Suzuki T500 New mock up pics 1/08/11
If you could find a high temp red to match the tail, oil tank, and side cover that would look cool on the engine! If not i would say go with a black engine.
OR....
Red frame, black engine, tail, oil tank, and side cover.

bikeboy's routing would be amazing! plus it help give you tuning length.
Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)
go with exhaust wrap! Not only can you buy it in black, but it also insulates your exhaust heat which in turn means less hot air moving over your engine.
Roughly- for every foot of exhaust you need about 2 1/2 feet of wrap (2 inch wide)

I was able to pick up some cbr f3 rear sets off ebay for $50 to put on my 82 gs650. i went for sport bike rear sets rather then universal ones just because they have the mounted rear brake master cylinder. Just have to weld on some mounting brackets and i'll be set.
Re: '75 suzuki gt250
looking awesome!! love that you made your own expansion chambers, props on that! can't wait to see her with rear-sets and on the road.
Sorry i just have to put in my two cents. I don't think a square tail section goes with this bike at all, everything from the engine to the tank is nice and rounded. Love that paint though!!! epic!! And i love the shape of the tank, i have the same one on my 1967 Benelli Cobra 125.
Re: Noob building a 78 CB550 Cafe - Pearl
My suggestion would be to soak your exhaust nuts in penetrating oil (WD-40) before you try to break them loose. when they are that rusted you run the risk of break the stud and dealing with more problems.
I wouldn't think you need to take any of the side covers off, maybe just the oil filter housing. If it were me i would drain the oil, take the filter housing off, then like Big Rich said just lay the bike on it's side and work the frame off the engine.
tcbros makes some cheap rearsets for the xs650

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!
In my opinion the seat should match the tank! since you have a round tank go for a round seat. if you want a square seat then find a square tank.
Re: My starting point.... Trying to get motivated!
That is awesome!! mikesxs.net is a great place to get performance parts, cams, valves, pistons etc. they have it all.
i'm not sure if anyone answered your points question so here it goes. the part of the points that you should be worried about is where it contacts the crank spindle right in the center. the spindle is shaped like a camshaft and thus opens and closes the points as that wears down and gets...
