Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Here's your swing arm--5" longer. I sleeved each weld location and drilled holes for rosettes. The rosettes were MIGed in. The spliced piece was TIGed in with a root pass (no filler), then I went back with filler. I too lost my camera, so you'll have to deal with the phone pics. Troy can take better ones when they are on the bike.

Surprisingly, this was a really easy job, but it was time consuming. The swing arm a highly stressed, critical component that I wanted done right. I'll mail it out tomorrow.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Aww man Troy that is looking sick. The bobber look is really growing on me. I know I will be building next. I can't believe you're almost finished and this is the second thing you're doing to your bike and I still haven't finished mine!

ChrisF, that swingarms looks really good. I don't think I'd be capable of doing that myself so you might get an order from me in the future...

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Bike is looking awesome!!! swingarm too!!

Red tank looks great but for what it's worth I still kinda dig the blue one...

One more thing.. show more tire lol

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Went back through the old pics, I changed my mind... Red tank lol, but fender positioned like the blue tank!!!
Just my opinion!!

Wow! the build is looking great, noticed you don't have the
tips on the headers anymore, did they produce and bad sound?
Might be doing something with tips on mine, but having a hard time.
finding a set. Keep up the great work.
Tips were ok on the cafe and they had an ok sound, but I didn't want them on the bobber. I had welded them on so I just cut them off for this build. I wanted something loud and obnoxious. ;D A Few guys have done the tips now. I got the idea a while back from someone on this board. They are jsut early model Vw tips.

Chris, Swingarm looks great! Good design and technique which should make it very strong! Nice job and I can't wait to get it! Should be dope. Much thanks!

Hey goodfornothing, I already had all the hard work done to start this build. A couple of modifactions later and its a different bike, sorta ;D. It's almost like cheating.

And thanks for all the kind words guys! Much appreciated!

+1 on more tyre, so the stays on the guard are vertical should be the go.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Simple solution for the gap between the tank and the seat: a small leather tool bag. You could even make a 'cover' for the gap in the tank with leather, then add the bag. Just chose one that'll be comfortable.......you always want a comfy bag between your legs afterall!

Too funny about the comfy bag...But Yes swag that's it. Thank you! I'll rock that at some point no matter what tank I use. It would be a good way to tie in the gator seat.
Got the ford tail light and curved tag holder done. It will just need painted. I really like the way it turned out. Besides that I'm sorta at a stand still until I get the swingarm and other tank. But thats ok because I just picked up a load of extra farm work. I'll post more progress once things slow down.
and by the way, thanks for the props guys.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

very cool. i am a huge fan of the old tail lights! should look good!

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

I might have to use.... errr steal... that tool bag idea too!!! Great idea!!!

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Yeah guys what a great idea right? I love it. Not sure about the gun holster though. Just the thought of something like that sitting between me legs  Beverage holder might work, but second thought, that might get me in trouble too ;D.

Hey JRk, I think you'll like the model A light. Really finished off the back of the bike.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

I really like the toolbag idea. I think that this could even be incorporated into a cafe in a cool way. But Im not so sure it would work with just any cafe..

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Dude, this is really getting sick. I'm lovin' the crap out of it. Hopefully that tank'll get delivered soon so you can get that thing on and see how it looks. Also, I sent you some chain today, so you'll be riding soon!

Yeah I got the idea the other day, walked into the shop and Dad had piled some shit on the bike I needed to button up that day. He'd set this old leather toolbag where the tank and seat meet. I'll end up using it on a couple bikes here too.
