Just rewired the new dash and the new tail light! took longer than i though but rewiring always take time. If anyone needs to see my diagrams or the finished product just let me know. (don't want to post the diagrams to the page because well they are boring..)

Yes you can pull out the clutch rod from the left side. Just remove the cover over the drive sprocket. The cover also holds the clutch release mechanisim. You can grab the rod and pull it straight out. There should be a ball bearing and thrust pice on the other end but you need to take off the right hand cover and take the clutch apart to get at them. i'd just check the rod .
Oh I forgot about bending the plywood. I made the kids skim boards several years ago. There is some good info out there on how to give them a rocker. I put my pice of plywood in a kiddies pool with a brick on it for a couple of days. Prop one end up off the bottom and put several heavy bricks on top. The bricks will eventualy push the board down leaving the end pushed up. Drain water and let dry for several more days and your done.

Also if you still plan on polishing the covers you should spray it with paint stripper and hose it off first. It probably dosen't look like it but I bet there is a coat of clear paint still on the covers.

Ok im going to pull the rod now. And the plywood is bending nicely! no pic yet but i soak the back of the seat board in water for a few hours then put a brick under it and place the tung of are camper on it. (its the red neck way, its my mom and dads 1950's Shasta trailer they are fixing up) Should only take a day or 2 more till the bend is where i want it. As far as the covers go i think im going to try and polish them when i take it off to check the clutch. I will put some stripper on there at the same time.

Also im seeing fresh oil from the head gasket... Any way to know if its blown?

well all the legal things are done! just got back in with a tag in my hand! I also took the motorcycle test and passed nd waiting on them to send me my new one. But the bike is insured and registered and has a tag. So legally i could go ride now. But legals i cant i have no mirrors and its still on the old worn out tires. So for now im waiting on sand blasting the wheels and new tires and ill have to order a new rear caliper. Im just that much closer!

Well i have put 250 miles on the bike over the past few weeks! But after the latest ride the bike decided to start blowing fuses like crazy. So I blamed the voltage regulator. Ordered a new one off ebay for $35 not to bad. Still getting the wiring sorted out on it...

Also got a new battery for the bike. I found that they use 12v battery's as back up for alarm systems. So i walked over to are local electronic store and asked if they sold them. Lucky the guys at the shop like me because of previous work iv done with them so i got a 12v 7ah sealed battery for free. Would have cost me $20 to $35 online. So im going to wait to get the electrical figured out before i wire it in. I will also have to make a new box to fit it into since its smaller and i will need to fit the new electronics in with it. (reg/rec, fuse box)

So tonight im waiting on the battery to charge back up and going to have to go threw the carbs again before I can see if my new voltage reg. is going to work. So I decided on my paint for the gas tank. I saw a pic of a xs650 a long time ago and loved the look of the paint. But had no idea how to get the look until tonight!

I sanded my whole tank to bare metal then laid down my tape lines. Sprayed the red on then a few minutes after that i checked the pint it was righ to the point of not being sticky to the touch. So I then took the tape off and scuffed the paint with 100 grit sand paper. In some places it pulled chunks out and in other just scraped off a little but it did the job perfect!

dude that seat is perfect! Did you stitch that?
Nope I had a guy from my home town do the seat with some leather my grandpa gave me. I wish I had the skill to do that but its one of the things i just can't do.

Been working on the bike a little trying to get it back running but it just wont run right and wont charge ether. After going through everything I can think of im down to do a rewire of the whole bike. So im trying to figure out a wiring diagram for my bike now. This also means i can get rid of the hand controls witch is one that iv been wanting to do.

Here is a link to my work on the wiring harness plz help if you can!

well spent some more time with the bike over the past few weeks on short trips home. went into the to the carbs and found that the pilot jets are all kind of a mess and some other things but im going to get some parts on order and dive into them when i get the chance. Still waiting on some help with wireing help before i cut the old stuff out.

Well I got the bike out into the sun and took some shots of it with my new old 35mm camera!
Hope yall like it! dont forget its not done! well not to where i want it to be but it will never be done haha

Looking great! You're enthusiasm to get her done is contagious. I picked up a KZ400 a few weeks ago and am waiting for my mikuni carbs to come in so I can get them on. Nice job and good luck getting her going!

looks great man like my own a never ending project, the electrics a simple always seems worse than it is until you actually go at then,JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS.

Well I got most of the electrical done. I took off the left hand controls to clean the bike up and make it legal since im not running blinkers. (In NC you don't have to run blinkers but if the hardware is there it must be working) So I took of the turn signal switch and high/low beam and rewired everything for it. This seems to have fixed some of the issues iv been having. Well im waiting on a clear day to get the bike out and take some pic of the mods that have been done in the last few months.

Been really busy with school over the past few weeks but i have been able to ride the bike a little. One cylinder is running really rich and not idling, but once it gets some heat in it and i get up to speed it works grate. Iv gone through a few spark plugs because they keep fouling. Her is a pic of the bike above my school

So i finely got my jets back and today i through in a smaller 2nd jet hopping to get less fuel into the mix. After that i also lowered the flots so they wont leak out as much gas(a bad idea in the end.) Along with a new jet i changed the oil after finding that oil was mainly gas and there was alot in there... So i took the bike back out after all this and the bike ran grate for a little and the clutch was SOOOO much better and it slipped just right while engaging and quit slipping under power. But after a mile down the road the right cylinder gave out the one i rejet and moved the float bowl. So i limped the bike home and pulled the plugs. All is well with the plugs so i think that i set the float bowl to low and was starving that side by riding it and pulling more gas out of the bowl than it can get into it. So it should be an easy fix but it might have to wait till tomorrow.

In other news here is a pic of my brothers CB550 he got running the other day, he is headed up this weekend to work on the bikes and hopefully do some ridding if the bikes want to run haha.
