Do whatever the hell ya want. If you're real concerned about saving all the classics, then buy them up and stick them in your warehouse to rust away.
As was stated... They made a pile of these damn bikes. There are likely dozens of the models people lust after in museums and private collections world-wide for folks to go stare at. Fucking terrific.
And as has also been stated, there's a difference between cutting a bike up with a functional and useful end result and cutting one up for the fuck of it.
If someone is doing the latter, and someone who knows better offers advice to the contrary, then that that kicks ass. That's the whole point of this place. If that person hears the advice and chooses to ignore it, whatever. Fuck it. Can't teach a pig to sing... Blah blah blah.
The thing that pisses me off as of late (rant starting now... walk away if you'd like) is the "old guy" or the "guy with experience" who feels that the fact that they're older or more experienced gives them the right to be an asshole. It doesn't. Get the fuck over yourself. Please.
There are a ton of "older guys" here who KNOW their shit and are happy to help without being assholes. Let them help and keep your snide bullshit to yourself. Many of the good ones have chimed in here. They've done so with some tact and respect. Fucking learn from that.
The ones who insist on being assholes... You're the reason kids dont learn. They ask for help and your first response is to call them fucking names and belittle them while offering NO real help. Why the hell would they listen?

Having a bad day are we? And just as I was about to complement you on your polite spell check. Let's all take a deep breath and let it out slowly. People have different opinions and it's all good. It's better if we are respectful but it's hard on the internet to tell humor from sarcastic douchebaggery ( I want to see that as the word of the year for 2014).

Now back to the garage I have a stock restoration to finish so I can get to chopping up the frame from an identical bike to make a bad ass cafe racer out of it.

I'll be damned, if I have not seen several cases of guys posting pics of a cherry old bike to get recommendations on whether to make it a cafe-bobber-etc.
And get several posts to keep it original, because it is a great bike in stock or mildly improved form. They are also told to buy a rough bike if they want to learn how to modify bikes.
BUT a lot of bikes were mediocre when they were new, and no one with any sense cares who cuts one up. :
