GT550 Blue Smoke Devil

Have you sat on the bike with the seat that far forward? I can't see how it can be at all comfortable with the rearsets so far behind the line of the seat pad.

Just asking ;)

You got a good eye bro. The rear sets are one of the things to be worked out. They are a tad far back. I am going to try to move them forward about 2 inches but there is a ton of shit to consider. The main one being the kick starter clearing the foot peg. to be continued..........................

What fun would it be if the bike was DONE anyway!!! ;D

lol, the link didnt work cos it wasnt a link... :D

ah ok...will check that out!

the only gt550's ive really seen in mags or real have been concourse restos...

i must say your one and now the other one are really blowing my mind....

here in the uk everything 2 stroke is demanding big money as in overpriced greed and the bike mags feature an rg500 or rd350lc every month....

nice to see something different and oh so nice....keep up the good work.

Hey, not to hijack, but i do like your build and I have a thing for 2 strokes. I had a nice GT550 build, until i regretedly sold it in 2010. During that build i made a lot of nice billet goodies for it including rearsets. I read that you are having some issues with yours kind of??? I have a few set of mounts leftover that I could part with. My mounts used the factory passenger peg brackets and locked in the sqaure notch. they moved the pegs up 1 inch and forward 2.25 from there. that game me plenty of clearance form the chambers i had on it, and i could still kick it over. Here is a pic.

Hey Durg,

Not a hijack at all. I need rear set info!!! :D. Those peg sets look amazing, nice work. I see some issues for me though. I have a SV650 rear end and brake set up. I dont think your brake side peg and lever would work with my master cylinder. The shifter side is pretty straight forward and would probably work but, I already have $$$ tied up in this current set up. I am going to screw with it some more tonight. Thanx for the info, maybe I will be in touch if I cant get this straightened out. ;)

I also keep scrolling up and down looking at the photo of your brake side peg and my brake side peg. If you look at the stock passanger peg hole, where we both have the braket holding up the pipes, the pegs are pretty close to the some position. I think your pegs are a little farther forward compared to mine.

taken before the stock peg was removed.

I have since removed that horrible plate hangin off the back.

Glad to hear your not concerned. I guess i didnt pay much attention to the master cylinder, and How mine doesnt have a provision for it. DUH!!!

No worries man keep it up , I like the build so far.

Ya, the second tail I had on there has too many straight lines and angles. Did not match up with the shape of tank. When I get this one mounted and painted, should look pretty good. ;D

Thanx for the comps. ;D

I have another taillight already, just havent mounted it yet.

Still have to tweek the seat mounts to cure that little gap under it. That gap is caused by the seat mounting frame I made.

How do you like the gold pin stripe in the tail cowl, Auto Zone specail!!!

The seat is actually the rear / passenger seat from a ZX7. So it is sorta hard to make it look supper clean and match the tail and match the frame and get it mounted!!! :D

That tail looks a lot better than the other one, but the seat doesn't work IMO.

Why don't you pull off the vinyl and foam from the base and make you own seat? Or at least re-shape the seat foam you have?

The covers are only stapled on and it's quite easy to pull them out and re-staple another cover on (the base is just soft plastic).

Was runnin real rich at idle, foulin plugs and very "boggy". Turned the idle mixture screws in 1/2 turn each. Nice and crackly now, nice idle, no more fouled plugs. So frigging tempermental!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But.....................I can listen to this song all friggin day!!!!
