wahoo! i got a compliment on my build! thanks a bunch! looks even better now, i got new tires on and straightened out the tail light. can't wait to get my tank back, expect stunning pictures forthwith. ;D

shoot, two weeks later and i still don't have my tank back. that's the problem with getting a hook up. i saw a picture of it with the dents removed and the primer on though. hopefully i'll have it sunday. apparently the shop got super busy right after they agreed to do my tank...

i picked up an impact driver today so hopefully tomorrow i'll be able to replace my shift cable.

so, the impact driver is my new favorite tool! screwing is fine but add hammering to screwing.... this has started to sound a little perverted....

got my tank back finally!

didn't have good lighting so the photo didn't turn out well but there she is. i'll take a couple more pics in the daylight (although the likelihood of any sunshine is slim to none) tomorrow.

Lookin slick, the shape of the tail fits the tank well. I picture a real low slung look with the gauges and clip-ons mounted real low. Keep up the good work man.

thanks a lot! gauges have already been removed. i don't know if i'd want my clip-ons any lower... i don't plan on doing rear sets (at least in the near future) so i can't go much lower or rides are gonna be mighty uncomfortable...

i'm not sure what's next... maybe try to find a machinist to make some parts for me. a license plate mount and a tail light mount that don't look so jenky... and i'd like headlight ears that we're shorter and straighter.

i'd like to do pod filters but am hesitant after hearing that re-jetting usually ends up making the bike run worse than stock...
i've got another stock air filter i need to put on to replace the bent one i've got on there.

i'm also not sure what to do about the seat. i don't know if i want to upholster it but it looks pretty unfinished as is.

the obvious thing to do is pull the engine and paint everything. but i'm poor, have no experience working on automotive stuff except what little i've done on this bike, have no garage or access to power tools or paint studio/supplies. so while i wish that my bike could look like the calender bikes on this site it's a little outside my scope right now. so i'm working on the bike one small step at a time. i also love riding the bike and am hesitant to do anything that would put it out of commission for too long. so that's where i'm at.

what do you guys think? any suggestions?

What clip-ons are those and where did you get them? Very nice, I like how they have a "rise" to them.

What size tires are you running front/back? I have a '74cb360 and I really like the sizing you used.

i sure wish it wasn't so frickin' cold out. i've got christmas presents (some of them gifts i've given to myself i'm not ashamed to admit) galore but it's hard to be motivated to install them when it's 40 degrees at the warmest point of the day.

as soon as it gets warm i'll be taking the plunge and cutting my mufflers off (well one of them is removable the other will be tasting hack saw), then in go the baffles. i'm planning on wrapping the pipes. not sure if i want to go with black or or white... any suggestions?

i decided to man up and go do some work even despite the weather. i pulled everything off the forks to install the headlight ears but e-bay fibbed and they don't fit my forks w/o a shim. so i grabbed a tin can and some scissors.

wasn't enough so i grabbed an old bicycle innertube...

that did it so i put them on the fork and ran into my next problem:

the headlight ears were designed for a narrower headlight mount...

not sure what i'm gonna do now. it's getting dark and it's not getting warmer so i'm going bag it for the day and try and figure something out. maybe grind down the ears? maybe just put them on the outside of the clamp instead of the middle? any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Get a narrower bucket - those ears are too nice to start mucking around with and you wouldn't be able to make it fit anyhow.

What is the distance between the new ears?

I just did a rough measurement (don't have large enough calipers) of my '72 CB350 bucket and its around 6.25 inches wide at the mounts and about 2.5 inches deep from the mounts to the back of the bucket.

From my memory it is a 7" bulb. I have a spare bucket... needs a paint-job, but if you are interested its yours for shipping -- I'll check the bulb measurement when I get a chance tonight.
