Project RD400 CutNPaste

Well I lucked out and found some wheels here. They're in better shape than mine and I got both for 45 bucks.

Best thing is he has the rotors drilled. WOOT!!!!!!!!!!

I've achieved the perfect pearl white.

I laid some base coats of duplicor white. I used a generic ford. Then I followed it up with clear coating with this

Tamiya PS-58 pearl clear.

Looks factory like audi pearl white.

Ok so what color should the wheels be?

Dark blue like frame.

Pearl White

Lighter baby blue and accent the tank with same color decals?

See pic

Tank and side covers will be the same as my other RD.

Pearl white or blue to match the frame, but only polish out the rim lip and not the ribs. My $0.02. Not sure you would be happy with baby blue or another shade... Do you like to wash your bikes? White rims are a bitch for looking grimey, but looks sharp nonetheless especially with pearl I imagine.

And now the shitty work of polishing begins. Pics don't turn out in a dark garage but I polished them down to red rouge.

Polisher was too hot to finish the other fork tube.

Got the other fork tube polished. Mocked up wheels. I'm going to need to design a new wheel bushing to fit the rear wheel.

That frame looks awesome, man! I agree with twisted about the wheels- dark blue with bare polished ridges.

I hope you don't mean that the fork tube was to hot to touch. And red rouge means what i think it means.

Cos if thats the case you're most likely gonna have to rebuild your forks. I speak from experience watching 2 friends do the same thing. Maybe your good, but maybe not.

It warps the seals and disturbs the fork oil and essentially boils the internals of the fork. Your springs will be fine but whose to say about the rest of the workings....

Just a thought

No, I think he meant the polishing tool was too hot, overheated, to continue polishing.

But you should replace the fork seals regardless if you have the forks off the bike. I'm guessing you have considering the amount of work going into it so far!

Yes the fork seals need to be replaced. Also the red rouge is the polish I used. The polishing machine got smokin red hot. Not the forks.

Those seals can handle polishing heat.
