They're going to stay for now. I'm going to run without an oil tank but i'll need to run a battery. I don't want to see it so the covers will provide some color and a hiding spot for a battery.
DT - premix? I'd run the pump. They are stone reliable as a rule and that avoids all sorts of hassles on the street. I'm actually old enough to remember the days in the UK where some petrol stations sold two stroke mix but not all, so we had to carry a bottle of oil around. What a PIA.
That should be easy enough to find. Do you know how many teeth they have? I may even have one here among the detrius of the TZ/RD mongrel motors I bought over the years.
Keep up the good work Dbag! I think all this to hack or not hack BS has really stifled your creativity. Get back to doing what you do best and that is your OWN thing. Here is a random pic for inspiration i think the...ah...the colors on her shirt might go good with your paint scheme ;D You build um good and you build em quick so keep those updates coming...
Teazer i'll tear down that pump this week. It'd be sweet if you had a gear. I don't know if it is the pump but I found a tooth in my case when I took the pump off. It's not from the drive train.
Hmmm... might want to track down the part that's missing from. :-\ The daytona's had electronic ignition right? Just wondering, 'cause if you don't I'd recommend a magneto with electronic ignition to ditch the points and you can run a battery eliminator (basically some sort of capacitor, but not sure). Unless a battery is mandatory to be road legal where you live.
Wifey made me take the frame down from the ceiling tonite. I decided to join the swingarm and place the shocks. I'll get new shocks but for now I just spray bombed the springs epoxy white. Oh and one of her good kitchen towels is supporting my bike on the stand. She'll understand, i'm sure.
I don't understand. The Daytona ignition is basically the same as an RZ350. No points or BS to worry about. Is the black box missing or is there something else wrong with that iggy?
I blew my crank. I bought a crank from a guy in the USA, his crank doesn't allow for the CDI any more. So now I have a complete CDI ignition that is useless. Unless i send my crank away to get redressed. I figured all this out after I put the cases back together. Plus I just want to modern up the bike a bit anyway.
Dirtbag the bike is looking great I can wait to see it completed. As for running premixed I think it would look badass if you had some sort of 1 litter oil bottle caddy attached to the bike somewhere
Kind of like the ones that you can get for sleds and such.
The Stock ignition is about as high tech and modern as anything else out there. The only upgrade would be a programmable unit.
Is the problem that the crank nose is different? In which case get the pressed off and swapped over or get a small adapter machined with inside and outside taper. I have to get one done for the reed valve GT750 to take a late model GSXR alternator which needs a fatter crank end.
