    suggestions please

3M Super77 is pretty awesome stuff. I used it to hold the fabric on my KZ. Even when the fabric got soaked in gas from a petcock leak the fabric stayed in place.

    Pods vs Velocity stacks

I read that pods are very difficult to set up because they lack the length of velocity stack that usually comes with a stock airbox. Anyone care to comment? I have 1985 GS750F that PO put pods on. It's choppy below 3K, spins from there to about 6K and struggles after that. In short this thing...

    Problem

If you try GKs advice scuff up a large area around it and use a generous fillet - the bond needs to resist the clutch pull.

    cb750 stem bearing issue

Actually GK makes an intersting point noting that the stem should go in the freezer. In my case (73 Kawi Z1) the bearing went into the freezer because I driving into the steering neck ( the frame). If memory serves correctly I had to drive both bearings into the neck and then the stem slid in...

    cb750 stem bearing issue

Often an interference fit. Put the new bits in the freezer overnight (after greaseing them). Have everthing ready to go before pulling them out. Turn up a couple of hardwood dowels that fit the race nicely so you can drive them home straight with a hammer. Mine went in perfect following this...

    Changing Motorcycle Tires

Baby powder makes a great lube for getting tubes in. It's also a good replacement for dish soap when spooning on tires.

    possible new toy..........

I had an 85 ninja9 - what a great bike! Smooth, powerful, faired for comfort! Would pull an indicated 240kph. Had to bend the mirror spring plates because the mirrors would fold in after at speeds above 180. FYI the motor is not hard to work on even with 16 valves.

The List (or how my cheap hobby became expensive in under 15 minutes)

Here's a tip I learned on restoring old bikes. I havn't followed this advice but I know it's true. Pick the model you want to restore. Then go out and find the very best example of that bike you can find. Buy it.

    cb360 Project: OrangeKrush

The CB360 was my first ride decades ago. I would rethink painting it black. 1) It's been done to death 2) Poor choice for visibility 3) Non forgiving color if you've done body work

    Mystery smoke!

This is a sign of electrical grief to come. All the brit bike guys know that the electrical system actually runs on smoke. That's right smoke flows inside the wires. When an electrical component fails the smoke leaks out and the electrics are done.

    Polishing/Sanding aluminum

For removing factory clear coat try using Easy Off oven cleaner. The sanding mops are a cool idea, however the more I polish stuff the biggher a fan of flat black rattle can I am.
