Deacon's CB350

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Thanks Jay, something I certainly struggle with especially with something this large. Happy with it though.

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Thanks Mike. I was home over lunch and opened up the hole. Just didn't look right to me, I think it looks better now, even though I'm not a chrome guy. It just needed something to define the light. Profile shape looks better as well.

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Small update. I was on vacation for a few weeks and just now getting back to work on the bike. Continuing to work on the fairing, currently smoothing it out in preparation for making the clear windshield. In the meantime, I decided to try cleaning up the exhaust joints. I have an extra set so I flattened and polished the edge of the fins and painted the rest black. Only have one done for now but I think I like it and will go ahead and do the other when I have some spare time. My plan is to paint the engine black with some polished bits so this will fit in nicely. Please excuse the dirty engine in the picture :-[

Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

That looks good, like it's meant to be like that.

Also, very nice work on the fairing. Can't wait to see how it looks on the bike

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Thanks guys!

Just finished making the main support bracket for the fairing. Just learning welding so not the prettiest but very functional. Will work on the rest tomorrow as I need to get the bracket done and fairing supported before I can finish trimming out the cutouts for the clipons.

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Wow man. I haven't checked in for a bit. You've been all kinds of busy! Killer stuff!

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Thanks. Its an extremely slow build, finding it hard to get time, but its still moving forward.

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Motoring right along. Have the headlight mount done and finished the front bracket this evening. Surprisingly worked out pretty good, its even straight :) Will start in on the rear bracket to hold the lower section over the next week.

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Just finished tacking up the rear mount for the fairing, I'll finish welding it up tomorrow and then clean it up a bit. After that I'll start in on trimming out the cutouts for the clipons. Up to this point I had the fairing resting on a bit of foam on the top triple so I couldn't test the steering rotation. Now since its fully suspended I can see how much trimming is necessary. Still have the upper fairing mount to do but may wait until after I have the screen done to do it.

Re: Deacon's CB350 - Fairing?

Thanks Evan.

Had a productive lunch hour, got the rear bracket all welded and cleaned up a bit. Once I get the cutouts done for the clipons I'll leave the fairing as is and move on to other areas. I'm going to wait to make the upper fairing mount until after I get the screen done and mounted. Up next will be to work on the tank/seat combo and get the rearsets connected.

Its so nice living close to work so I can get home and get stuff done. :)
